Canoeing and Camping in Adirondak State Park
We left the school at around 1:00pm in the schol van and departed on our way to the first trip of the year. Jarett, Peter, Nick, Phil, Liam and Tim were all going to canoe and camp in the Adirondaks. After the long drive where we all made comversation and got to know eachother alot more, because we were mostly rookies on that trip. We arrived at the docks at about 4:00pm where we dawned our life preservers loaded our canoe and began canoeing. We got mixed up at first but our trust compasses helped us find the correct route. After we canoed through the small streams littered with logs and lillypads we reached the fFinger Lakes.
There we found a quiant uninhabited island which we decided would be our home for the next two days. The sun was out, the animals were playing and we were setting up camp enjoying the beautiful scenery. That day we would not do any canoeing, instead we got wood, ate and basically settled in. That night Peter made an enormous bon fire and we discussed many things such as how fire is our mothers natural orgasm. That night we slept niicely to the sound of the loons calling to eachother. The next day we were up bright and early as we set out on our adventure.
Our goal was to canoe across five different lakes, portage between them and bask in our mothers beauty. The whole time we were happy even when our planned route was forced to be altered because of a blocked canal and when it started to rain softly but steadily. We canoed for about 8 hours and completed close to 20km with 5 portages. In the end we were all tired but happy that we did it. That night we ate under the tarp because of the rain and the next morning we woke to find our matresses soaked. We canoed back to the dock that day and went home to return to our everyday routine in the big city. |
