  Stewart House hosts gala ball

Stewart House will host a Gala Charity Masquerade Ball at the Hordern Pavilion Fox Studios Australia on Saturday June 17.

A major feature of the evening will be a live designer fashion parade featuring designers such as Alex Perry who will display and auction a selected piece or pieces from their range of contemporary and courtier gowns as they are paraded along the catwalk.

The evening will also incorporate signed corporate and sporting memorabilia auctions hosted by Mike Cummins.

Highlights include a 1999 World Cup autographed jersey, a Don Bradman limited edition autographed framed picture, Olympic memorabilia, and corporate packages including three hours unlimited use on Sydney Harbour in the eight seater Ocean Extreme boat, Bridgeclimb packages for 12 people and more.

The Air Force Wind Quintet will provide music during the pre-dinner drinks, followed by their renowned 19-piece stage band.

To top off the night, Sydney band Jelly Bean Jam will entertain with their "get on the dance floor attitude".

Tickets are $90. This includes entertainment, all alcohol and a three-course meal.

Since 1931 Stewart House has helped more than 95,000 children in need.

Each fortnight during the school year Stewart House hosts up to 100 needy children from NSW and ACT public schools. Children aged between five and 17 are invited to attend Stewart House because they are deemed to be "in need". Contributing factors for invitation are geographical isolation, abuse or neglect in the home, health issues such as depression, and family crisis.

During their 12-day stay these children are provided with medical, dental and optometry assessment and treatment, as well as emotional support. This is balanced with health and educational programs and out of school activities to boost their self-esteem and to promote better physical and emotional health. These services are provided free of charge to the children who attend Stewart House.

Support for Stewart House helps to raise the $1.6 million needed annually to run Stewart House.
