| APRIL 21 WHITE ROCK CUBS 5 @ LIGHTNING 8 After spending all morning and most of the afternoon running the Bat-a-thon for the League, the Lightning still had enough gas in the tank to beat the Cubs. Starting pitcher Ratcliffe went 3 innings before Badali took over. Both pitchers recorded only 1 strikeout which meant our defence was outstanding. Badali got his 3rd win of the season for his efforts. The offence was lead by Ratcliffe as well, scoring twice and driving in an RBI. Garisto went 2 for 2. APRIL 22 LIGHTNING 24 @ MOUNT BAKER 3 (5 innings) LIGHTNING 12 @ MOUNT BAKER 1 (6 innings) The offence was dynamite in the first game of the double header. Shane Ross had a career day at the plate, hitting 5 singles, 5 RBI's and scoring 4 times. Tolhurst got the team's first dinger of the season, He finished up going 4 for 5 with 5 RBI's and 2 runs scored. Troy Ross, Ratcliffe & Badali scored 3 times, Helm scored twice. Brinson recorded 3 RBI's. Tolhurst got the win pitching 4 innings striking out 5 along the way. Brinson pitched the 5th inning striking out 3 of the 5 batters he faced. In the second game, Tlhurst continued his assault, scoring twice on 2 doubles, Watt & Brinson drove in 2. Garisto gets crowing rights in this game, scoring 3 times on 3 walks. Watt pitched the first 3 innings striking out 6, while giving up only 2 hits. Shane Ross got the win pitching the 4th, 5th & 6th, stiking out 5 and giving up only 2 hits as well. An amazing streak came to an end, not wanting jinks him throughout the season, we kept it quite, but Ratcliffe had not struck out all season until the second game of the double header. A truly amazing accomplishment. APRIL 26 WHALLEY REDS 11 @ LIGHTNING 1 The battle of the 2 undefeated (District 3 play) teams went hands down to the Reds. The Reds now leap frog over the Lightning to claim top spot in the District 3 interlock schedule. We had only 2 bright spots in the game, Brinson's 1st homer of the season leading off the 4th inning and Wadden's 2 innings of shut out pitching to start the game. The Reds scored 5 runs in the 3rd, followed by 2 in the 4th, 1 in the 5th before closing out the scoring in the 6th with 3 more. APRIL 28 LIGHTNING 6 @ CYPRESS PARK 2 LIGHTNING 3 @ CYPRESS PARK 2 Brinson got the win in the 1st game, pitching 5 innings getting 9 K's, allowing 2 hits and 4 walks, before giving way to Troy Ross. Every member of the Lightning has now pitched in at least one inning. Troy pitched 2 innings recording 4 K's after coming off his broken arm this past winter. Troy lead the way with his first home run of the season with a 3 run shot in the 3rd. Garisto had 2 sac bunts, a double, a walk and a run scored, McFadden and Shane Ross went 2 for 4 each. Parkinson had 2 walks and a sac bunt. Nice to see those sacrifice bunts starting to happen! Game 2 was a little closer, with starter Ratcliffe going 5 solid innings, striking out 7 on 6 hits before giving way to Vachon who closed out the game with 3 K's while giving up only 1 hit in the last 2 innings. Ratcliffe drove in 2 of the 3 runs on 2 singles. |
