III.       Old Business - 2008 - 2009 Fee Schedule

            A.        Jim Knight - Briefly reviewed the process of setting the fee schedule, the current financial picture and the activities of the last meeting. Since the last meeting, Jim has received input from The Ladies’ 9 Hole Group, The Men’s 9 Hole Group and various individuals.

            B.        He passed out a tentative new plan with two tiers of annual fee, see attachment. This plan was originally suggested by Linda Campbell and subsequently formally approved by both the board of The Ladies’ 9 Hole Group and that of The Men’s 9 Hole Group with further suggestions from the latter.

            C.        Jim reviewed the rationale for the guests.

            D.        Duane Mayfield passed out a proposed plan with four tiers and described it, see attachment.

            E.        At various times during these presentations, there were several questions asked and opinions stated by the audience in general. One of the major questions dealt with why we are considering whether, and if so how, to raise golf fees rather than considering how to reduce maintenance costs. The strongest expression of this question came from Mike McKee. Jim Knight disagreed with general statements that there are other local courses with significantly lower maintenance costs which are maintained to the same level as ours. He feels that our course is well maintained and at a level desired by the golfing community.

            F.        Ultimately, Doug Dorfmeier led a point-by-point discussion of the proposal presented by Jim Knight and then followed the same process to discuss Duane Mayfield’s proposal. At the conclusion of this discussion, it was the general consensus of the Golf Committee representatives and of the audience in general that Jim should go forward with the following.

                                  A three tier fee system

Level #1 - an annual allowing for unlimited play

Level #2 - an annual allowing for 75 rounds of play

Level #3 - pay at the counter

Costs for the two annuals can not be finalized until the maintenance budget is set and until this year’s revenues are better known. However, target, or desired, costs are

                                              Level #1 = $1,000

                                              Level #2 = $750

A level #2 annual could be converted to a Level #1 later in the year. The charge should be the sum of the difference between the two annuals plus a surcharge of 20% of the cost of a Level #1 annual.

Cart fees will change little or not at all.

Play during twilight golf times, e.g. 4:00 pm in the summer and 3:00 pm in the winter will not result in point charges for any one and will not result in round charges for those with a Level #2 annual. The actual times will be set by the Golf Professional.

Players in the weekly 9-hole shotguns on Tuesday will be charged for a half round.

It was recommended by both 9-hole boards that the current fee of $15 for nine holes be restored to $19 as an inducement to purchase a limited annual.
