Minutes of the Lake Wildwood Golf Committee  August 12, 2008

The meeting was called to order by Duane Mayfield at 2:00 p.m.

Roll Call - Present: Maddie Graham, Jerry Lane, Bob Martin, Duane Mayfield, Tom Watson, Cathy Hendrickson, Ed Lauchner and Mike Byrne. Filling in for Linda Campbell was Diann Lane.

The following liaison personnel were present:, Ken Wolford. Absent for the concurrent Board Meeting were Edward Simpkins, Don Streseman, Chuck Murphey and Gary Turzak.  Absent also was Jim Knight.

Minutes - The minutes of the July 8, 2008 meeting were approved as submitted. (vote)

Golf Committee Progress- Duane Mayfield

Duane presented the achievements that have occurred in 2008.  These include:

·       Tiered Annual Fee Schedule

·       Golf Course Master Plan(GCMP) Survey

·       Completion of 2 forward tees.

·       Ladies locker room upgrade.

·       Distance markers painted on cart paths.

·       Temporary Black Tee markers.

·       Revitalization of the Divot Stompers.

·       Establishment of Priorities to the GCMP.

         Reports:  

Golf Course Superintendent - Ken Wolford

Reported that the USGA green inspection had been done and we should see a report next month.  Ken also explained the need for the posts and rope on green #8.  This was needed for traffic management around trouble spots on or near the green.  Golfers’ patience was encouraged.

Golf Professional - Jim Knight- Absent

         General Manager Report – Edward Simpkins-Absent

 Board Liaison Report – Don Streseman-Absent

          Special Projects Subcommittee Report – Gary Turzak-Absent

       

        

Course Inspection Sub-committee Report - Gary Turzak-Absent

         Irrigation System Sub-committee Report - Bob Pleski

Met with Toro representative.  Test heads have been installed on Hole #17.  They will be evaluated.

Turf Enhancement Sub-Committee  Report - Ed Lauchner

          Divot repairing on Mondays continues. Approximately 100 gallons of divot mix is used per week.  The golfing public needs to be diligent in filling of divots.

Golf Club Reports:

Ladies 18H-Cathy Hendrickson. – Nothing to report.

Men’s 18H- Tom Watson – Men’s Club Championship continues.

Ladies 9H – Quilt sale was successful.  Ladies 9-hole invitational is August 19^th.

Men’s- 9H-Bob Martin – Reported that the Men’s 9-hole club has volunteered labor for the rebuilding of the lookout tower on hole #18.  Also the Men’s 9 & 18 hole combined tournament is August 26^th.

Old Business: 

                Changes to Rules 7.10 & 7.50 to allow Tenants golf course use privilege was discussed and voted upon.  Failed (Vote)

New Business:

Preparation of the 2009/ 2010 Golf Calendar.  Maddie Graham and Cathy Hendrickson have volunteered to coordinate.  Requested Calendars by September 2^nd.

Correspondence:

Don Streseman submitted a possible rule change regarding refunds of paid annual golf fees for health reasons.

It was decided to send this issue back to the Board of Directors.
