I was shot.

I never saw the rubber pull the sleek, silver gun from his pocket, nor did I know he was standing behind me, until I felt the gun's cold metal jamming into my spine, and heard him whisper that this would be my last day, that I should have wished Busted never broke up the year before.

It had been one year since we broke up, and we had no intention of having a reunion show; we were too involved in eachother to play music. I had been living in your apartment, the one just meters from the ocean. The one where we would lay in your "heavenly" bed and make love for hours at a time. And though we had been together, an official couple, for eight months, I was still amazed by all of the best parts of you. Your imperfections were what made you perfect in my eyes.

"Jimmie." My breath was coming in short gasps, but with all my energy I managed to say your name. You took my hand in yours, dwarfing it. "Don't be afraid, baby. I'll be right behind you." You voice seemed calm and confident, and your soft lips formed a smile. "Let go." You reached across the bed and stroked my cheek with your long, nimble fingers.

You had always been the stronger one in our relationship; the "man," some would say. After Charlie's death, you were the one who consulted everyone, and the shoulder to cry on. But no one knew how torn apart inside you were, how his death to you felt like your own brother had died. But now, we would all be together again. Just how it used to be.

Somehow, you made it okay for me to go, for me to give in to this invisible force, slowly pulling towards an unknown dimension. I squeezed your hand with all of the energy I had left, whispered, "keep your promise," and smiled at you, one last time, before I let go of your hand and gave in to the force, knowing you would be right behind me.

You did keep your promise though. Not one minute after I arrived in Heaven, you ran towards me and Charlie, enveloping us both in a hug. You told us that after my heart had stopped, you found a surgical knife on a gurney outside of my room and stabbed yourself to death. Just so you could come right behind me. You also told me that you had promised Charlie the same thing, but he told you no, that you should promise me that, so that I would never have to be alone. I would always have one of them to take care of me, always behind me.
