452.9375MHz and 457.9375MHz are the End Of Train device frequencies. The EOT monitors brake pressure and transmits about every 40 seconds when the train is idle or when the brakes are not being applied. The receivable range is 1 to 2 miles and the number of transmissions increase as the air brakes are applied. Monitoring for a EOT is helpful to determine when either locomotive(s) and freight cars are present in a full train within a 1 to 2 mile radius. 457.9375MHz is the frequency for EOT to locomotive and 452.9375MHz is the frequency for locomotive to EOT. When transmissions are received on both frequencies and not just 457.9375MHz, a full train with locos is nearby!
