MOVIE REVIEWS
This is where I place reviews on movies in which I've seen, and my take on what they are about. Please enjoy:-)
Dungeons and Dragons
A rather good movie, you don't actually have to be a hardcore D & D fan to understand the plot. It included everything from Mages to Rogues. The animation of the Dragons was very entertaining, but I think that they made the Dragons way to weak. One Dragon could destroy almost an entire city. The only part that was hard to understand was the ending, but I won't spoil it for you. Just because the movie has a title that has plagued so many a player for so long, doesn't mean it is necessarly bad. It is actually rather comical.
Dracula 2000
Interesting concept. The vampire Dracula never actually died in the first movie, so it only makes sense that he should live until now. Dracula is an immortal vampire. The entire movie is spent figuring out a way to kill him. After a few unexpected twists and turns, you learn that Dracula is actually from the days of Christ. That is, however, one of the good parts of the movie, so I'll leave you at that. It may bring up some religious problems for those of you who are stright-edged Christians.
Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon
The visual effects were amazing. Never before have I seen anything like it. It was a mix of the Matrix, and Romance Movie of some sort. I don't know that many romances. The charectors in the movie had studied some sort of special Chinese secret of Ninja. They had supernatural abilitys, like super-speed, and could almost fly. The Movie is based around a sword, the Green Destiny. That really reminded me of Dungeons and Dragons. The ending was really odd. I did not expect it at all, definetly an edge of your seat film.
Pearl Harbor
Everybody has always known that December 7th is the anniversary of Pearl Harbor, but not everybody knows what it was really about. Unfortunetly, watching this movie will not help at all. The good news however is that this is a fiction movie, and has a great story line. After becoming attached to two great characters, they toss up your feelings about one of them. You really want to dislike the Japanese for what they did at Pearl Harbor, but when you watch the movie, you realize they really didn't want to. Sometimes in war type events like that, you have to choose to do a horible evil. You can almost consider this good, in the sense that it brought America into the war. Once America was in the war, it swung in our favor.
Atlantis
The picture is an accurate representation of what a Leviathan is supposed to look like. In the movie, however, they showed one for about 40 seconds, and it was was the crab-like machine. It was supposedly guarding the lost city of Atlantis, but should it have succeded, it would have made a dull movie. So, the adventures got past this "Leviathan", and headed into the lost city. A couple of crazy adventurers round out the exploration party. Including a miner, blower upper, reader, and a medic. Of course, the Leviathan manages to kill everybody but the mail digging team, which is quite a feat. A bit of bad aim on it's part, eh?
Shrek
A comical Movie about a story book Ogre named Shrek. One day, Lord Farquaad attempts to capture all of the Fairy Tale Creatures, in order to find the Magic Mirror. With this mirror, he try to find the "Fairest Princess of them All." In the mean time, all of the Fairy Tale Creatures ended up in Shrek's Swamp, where he was then forced to talk to Lord Farquaad. After all, he needed his swamp back. Whats an Ogre without a swamp? So, a friendly TALKATIVE Donkey and Shrek head off to tackle the evil Lord Farquaad and save his Fair Princess, Fiona. This Movie has great Animation, and I suggest anybody and everybody to go see it. Though, it does have a little bit of crude humor, so I'd say PG 10.
Evolution
A rather odd movie about some sort of Scientist and his college, a Girls Volley Ball coach who discover an alien species. After a run in with the Army, the unlikely heroes meet up with two more buddies, and head off to save the world. After a few set backs, like a single celled organism rapidly multipling into a massive monster, they might just save the planet. Or, they may just be destroyed in the process. I suggest you wait for it to come out on video before you actually go see it. Sure, it's cute or whatever, but it's not really Emmy Material. I know I'm not willing to pay 10 bucks over something I won't tell ALL of my friends about.
