November Journal Entries:

11-30-02 - Well here I am again writing past journal entries as though they were actually written on this day. Today I had to work at Trans Ova. I got out of bed at 11:30am full 3 hours behind schedule, and got to work at 12:00. I worked until around 6:00pm and then went home to change the oil in the SuperTaurus.  I got that done and was back at Dordt at 10:30pm. I watched a little TV and went to bed at 2am.

11-29-02 - The day after Thanksgiving. Still full of food. Woke up at 11:30am, ate breakfast, and went to do more research in the library. Did that until 4:30pm and came home. Watched TV a bit and then went to Kim's at 6:00pm to visit with the grandparents. Ate pizza and ice cream there. Mmmmm. Left at about 11:10pm. Came back here and worked on my website.

11-28-02 - Thanksgiving Day! Celebration at Grandma and Grandpa Kats'. Sooo much food. Ate too much of it. Took leftovers home and ate some more. Mmm. Drank some beers and watched O Brother Where Art Thou. Great movie. On a different subject, I watched Friends tonight and saw Brad Pitt on the show. I find it disturbing that I find him hotter than Monica and Phoebe. Is there something wrong with me? If I were gay and had a "to-do" list, he would be #1 and #2 and #3 and #4 and so on. I feel dirty. Must wash out these thoughts. But he's so strong and sexy. Arrrrghghhghgh.

11-27-02 - Thanksgiving break started at noon today. Woohoo. Did a little homework in the afternoon. More work on the research project. Afterwards I watched TV and slept a bit. Went to Kim's at 7pm because her grandparents are in from Wisconsin. It was okay. Came home at 10:00pm and drank and watched Austin Powers.

11-26-02 - After class I had to go to TransOva to take a hearing test. I don't really know why since I've worked there probably 10 hours since the beginning of the semester. But anyway, the test was fun. I sat in a little booth with headphones on and I had to push a button when I heard a noise. I destroyed the test. TransOva wanted scores of under 25......I got 3.3. I have the best hearing of anyone alive, at least that's what the lady said. After my test I did a little homework. I played basketball at 8:00pm. I also weighed myself before the game and registered 200.4 lbs. I told you that food on Sunday made me fat.  After ball I went to the bar with a load of people. It was fun. There was a large amount of money put up for two girls (who shall remain nameless) to kiss each other. They didn't. Girls are so dumb. Anyway, I went to bed at 2:00am.

11-25-02 - Still feeling the effects of all that food I ate yesterday. Arrgh. And to make it worse I didn't bother lifting weights today. This week will be very bad for my hard body. I awoke this morning with a nasty eyeball pain. It actually felt okay until I put my contact in. I managed to make it about half way through Cell Biology when I had to take it out and throw it on the ground. Damn contacts. I ended up wearing my glasses most of the day today, so on top of my new-found fatness, I had to wear thick-ass glasses. Not a good self-image day. A lesser man would've ended it all. Things in the right eyeball improved by about 4pm. I finally could put my contacts in and look like a normal person. I watched a little football tonight, enough to catch Koy Detmer making his famous motions and later dislocating his elbow. For anyone who saw that, it was quite spectacular. He was on the ground with his legs just a twitchin' away. I didn't know what was going on. Anyway, it was cool. We had a bowling game tonight at 9pm. I'm pretty sure we dominated again.

11-24-02 - Church at 10:00am. Pastor Herm makes funny jokes during prayer. Hahahaha!!! Some think it's inappropriate, I say more funny jokes. After church we prepare the turkey. It goes into the oven at 11:45am. After that I slept a while. After I slept a while I got up to make mashed potatoes. Corn and Swedish Meatballs were also prepared. Everything was done at about 5:00pm. The feast begins!!! Food was very good. Especially the stuff I made (I'm so full of pride). Ate way too much to fulfill the Thanksgiving Day tradition of gluttony. After I had completed gluttony I lusted after Stefan for good measure. That's 3 out of the 7 deadlies. I slept some more after dinner to fulfill the tradition of sloth, bringing me up to four. Those would be the only sins I committed during and after dinner. Not bad, I think. After sleeping I did a little homework and went to bed safe in the knowledge that the day was a success.

11-23-02 - Had planned on waking at 8:00am to do homework all day. As usual, this plan didn't pan out as I woke up at 12:30pm instead and then watched TV until 3:00pm. I did finally make it to the library to do a little research. Not quite as much as previously planned however. After I was done in the library I came back home and hung out with Kim a while. We went to the Family Table to eat at around 6:30pm. We also rented a movie called "Wet Hot American Summer". It sounds dirty, but you must trust me when I say it's not. Anyway, we watched it with Tim and Stefan who were doing there best to finish off a 30-pack of Miller High Life. I chipped in a little too. After the movie me and Kim went to Dairy Queen to get cold treats and came back and watched TV. Fun stuff.

11-22-02 - The Cell Bio test went about bad as expected. After that I slept for couple hours, missed Abnormal Psych, and went to hockey. Lifted weights and played basketball too. Went to Fareway with Mark and Stefan to pick up our Thanksgiving meal supplies. They ended up costing $37. Not bad considering how much food that is. We also rented The Pledge and the 1st episode of Band of Brothers.

11-21-02 - One day after the good news of my OAT scores, I received even better news. This time I got a call saying that I was accepted into Pacific University College of Optometry!! This is so great. That was the one school I really wanted to get into and I did. I am the greatest optometry guy ever to live on this earth. After that good news, which came at 5:30pm, I studied until 3:00am for my cell biology test, which I'm pretty sure I'll suck it up on anyway.

11-20-02 - Well folks, I got my OAT scores back today AND THEY KICKED ASS!!!! WOOHOO!!! I won't bore you with describing the scoring system, but I was optimistically shooting for a 330 total and I got a 350. I also did well on the natural sciences test, which is the most important. Needless to say I am very happy with this result as I am now virtually guaranteed entrance into any college I choose. Well, not exactly, but it certainly doesn't hurt. In other news, my weight was back down to 198.2 lbs today. This is disappointing because two days ago I tipped the scales at an even 200.0 after the French Toast supper. I guess all that toast didn't stay inside me.  Spent the afternoon finishing my GEN300 test. Took a nap after supper and then studied for my ECON test tomorrow.

11/19/02 - Hmmm. Did some homework. Had a bowling match at 9:00pm but I couldn't make it because of a GEN300 meeting. And speaking of that meeting, let me tell you something that I learned yet again there: Business majors are retarded. At 9:30 stupid business major douche bag wanders in and says stuff like "Duh...Whaaa???....The meeting was at 9:30pm right? Duh....I need a smoke.....duh......Seriously dudes, I thought you said 9:30pm even though I've been told about a thousand times that the meeting was at 9:00pm.  Duhhh........ Well now that I'm finally here let me add some completely irrelevant nonsense to this discussion. By the way, I'm a retard business major. Duh........I'm an idiot and have no idea what I'm talking about.......duh......I'm a rich boy who has cruised through life because my parents give me everything I want......duh.....hack, hack, hack, spit, *phlegm splat*.....but listen to me anyway because you have no choice because you're stuck here in this meeting and you are forced to listen my insane ramblings about things that make no sense.....duhh.....is the meeting over?...good....now I can go destroy someone else's property and laugh with my other douche bag friends.....duh....I'm stupid and don't deserve to live......I'm a business major." Yeah. That's pretty much what he said. Anyway, after the meeting I started to write my GEN300 test.

11/18/02 - What's up, baby? Back to the usual class schedule. Big event for the day was a $1 all-you-can-eat French Toast and Pancake supper at Hy-Vee. Ironically, this lands on the same day as the Bread for the World fast in which we were supposed to fast for a day. I'm all for feeding the hungry and all that, but this was ALL-YOU-CAN-EAT FOR $1!!! I felt like it was my patriotic duty to make up for those who had decided to fast. So me, Colin, and the Swede each put down 12 pieces of French Toast. Mark had 8 and Raych had 5.  That's 49 pieces for the 5 of us. GOD BLESS AMERICA!!! I don't have to starve here. We also won our IM co-ed volleyball game tonight. We are now 4-0 on well on our way to getting defeated in the playoffs. Yea for optimism. I also wrote my GEN300 paper tonight. Woohoo. I'm sure you care.

11/17/02 - Church at Covenant with Kim's family to watch Kristen sing. She is overpowered by Kansas somebody who blasts us out of the church. After church, me and the Dirtee Swede fry up a whole bunch of fish and eat it all. Mmmmmm. Next came hockey. It was the first time in loooooooong time I played. Thankfully everything went well. I still remember how to skate and that asshole Cronin only yelled at me once. Overall, a good day of hockey. I came back and was tired. Took a nap and then did homework and then went to bed on the couch.

11/16/02 - The last day in Oregon and I feel as though we just got here. Off to the airport!! Our flight leaves at 1pm. We fly out of Portland on an even bigger plane than the last one.  This one is like the Madden Cruiser with wings! This time we get to fly during the day which is cool because we could see stuff. Back in Salt Lake City we get to board another SkyTurd bound for Omaha. We get back ahead of schedule at 7:15pm. Next we drive home in Kim's Super Grand Prix. Home at 10:00. Watch TV and eat, then go to bed.

11/15/02 - Today is interview day here at Pacific University. I awake at 9am and get to the school at 10:30.  First off was my impromptu writing sample. I had to answer the question "What is more special to you, a home-cooked meal with family and friends or a meal at a restaurant with family and friends?" I went with home-cooked. After that we ate dinner and talked with faculty and students. Then there was a campus tour with a crazy old lady and a financial aid session which proved to be worthless. At 1:45pm came my interview. It was stressful. They asked me hard questions and I couldn't get away with giving the easy answers. They pressed me!! THEY CHALLENGED ME!!!!!! What has the educational system come to when they resort to actually challenging people?!?!?! After the interview the day was done, so me and Kim went apartment shopping. We found a couple nice ones for around $500 a month which is apparently fairly cheap in that area. When we got back to the hotel we were really tired so took a nap. We went to Dairy Queen for supper, came back, and went to bed.

11/14/02 - I will now proceed to write this journal entry (as well as those from the next couple of days) as though I actually wrote it on this day:  Today is the big day.  After skipping GEN300, I took my Abnormal Psych test. It went well. After that, Kim and I left for Omaha. The drive was uneventful. Our flight left Omaha for Salt Lake City at 8pm. Before boarding however, Kim was selected for a "random search". It's time like this that I regret dating such a badass. This was my first big plane ride. Surprisingly I wasn't nervous at all.  The flight was cool even though we rode in a SkyTurd plane. It was shitty. I couldn't even stand up straight in it. It was almost exactly like a school bus with wings and two really loud engines instead of one. At Salt Lake City we saw many Mormons wandering around. They are a strange breed. Our next plane was a nice one and much larger. It resembled a motorhome with wings. Our flight arrived in Portland at 11:30pm. We got our rental car, which turned out to be a 2002 Mustang, and drove an hour to the hotel. Unfortunately the Mustang was V-6 with no balls at all.

11/13/02 - Today's good news: my rating is up to an 8. Today's bad news: I'm still .9 behind MARK?!!?  My patience in growing thin with this deal. Anyway, on to my day. I had class again. I bought an ice scraper at Hy-Vee. Hold on, I must inform you that right now Mark decided to play Nickelback's "Never Again".  Ironically, that is what I say to Mark as I raise the gun to his head.  Now I am angry. I hate Nickelback.  Oh.....wait....he switched it to Metallica.  Guess what?!?! That's no better. I hate Metallica too.  Mark loves pissing me off.  Earlier today it was all Enya. Now it's Metallica. Am I the only who sees a problem with this. A good variety, I suppose, but it's just various kinds of suck-ass.  But back to my day, I studied for my Abnormal Psych test and lost an IM game of men's volleyball. By the way, me and the Kimmer will be leaving at 3:30pm tomorrow to head to Omaha where we will catch a flight to Oregon. Friday is my big interview at Pacific University. Wish me luck, homos!!!

11/12/02 - My hot or not rating went up a little. As it stands right now, I'm at a 7.5 which is .2 higher than yesterday. Yet, I'm very, very disappointed with the voting thus far.  The fact remains that I am simply hotter than a 7.5.  There is no doubt in my mind that I should be at least an 8.5 and sure as he'll overtake Mark sometime. If not, this world is too messed up for me to live in it anymore. The rest of my day was uneventful.

11/11/02 - Well, well. Did a whole lot of nothin' again.  The biggest victory of the day was me putting up the "Hot or Not?" page. Whoo-ahh!!  We also played some IM bowling and volleyball. As usual, we dominated both. I must say however that I think I'm going to set some sort of Dordt College record for the most IM sports participated in without winning a championship T-shirt. I was in two sports earlier this semester and three right now. Later this year comes floor hockey, basketball, more softball, and more volleyball. And you know what?!!?! I WON'T GET A FRIGGIN' T-SHIRT IN ANY OF THEM!!!!!!!!

11/10/02 - No church today. Wake up late, feel very sick.  Okay by 3:00.  Go to Kimmy's house at 5:30pm.  Eat a good dinner there and watch some TV.  Back to Dordt at 9:00pm.  See my Dolphins lose again. I hate Ray Lucas.  Read a little Cell Biology about microfilaments and actin and myosin.  I hate cell biology.

11/09/02 - Up at 12:30pm.  See the end of Iowa's 62-10 win over Northwestern. Also see Ohio State pull one out of their ass against Purdue.  Practice with the band from 3 to 5.  Went home afterwards to eat some food and get rollerblades.  Back at Dordt at 7:30pm. Start drinking at 7:30pm.  We are celebrating the last cross country meet of Tim, Stefan, and Colin's careers.  Tim and Stefan celebrate. Colin watches 'The English Patient'.  Go to VIPS at 11:00.  Kim, Scott, and Becky join us there. Fun times. Much beer.  Back home at 1:00ish.  Pics here.

11/08/02 - Made it to class at 8.  Pretty boring day. Slept from 1:30 until 5:30. Woke up and got ready to go to Aaron's house for his big party. It was an awesome time. I grilled up a big t-bone. There was also a keg of Miller Lite. Whoo-ahh!! I also learned how to play chess.  My all-time record now stands at 0-2.  Also, there was a 1:1 ratio of guys to girls. 18 to 18!!! It was fantastic. Big snaps to A-ron for one helluva party.  Pictures here.

11/07/02 - More fun in class.  Played intramural mens volleyball at 9pm. We lost to Jon Huizingh's team. It was close. I blame it on Kris Wynia who served three out four serves into the net.

11/06/02 - Hey. It's Wednesday. I skipped Cell Bio. I went to my other classes. Worthless, as usual.  I love this semester. I'm a complete sack. What else happened today? Not a whole lot.

11/05/02 - Woke up at 11am again.  I still love Tuesdays and Thursdays.  In GEN300 we had an environmentalist guy talk to us.  He was a good guy.  I liked the points he made.  Screw all business majors!!  They are the type that just love pollutin'.  Did some research into my Senior Project in the afternoon.  Sill having trouble finding another sewage plant in the area to compare with Sheldon.  Had IM bowling at 11pm.  Once again we were beaten by Schreur and Gallaher's team.  They even bowled pretty badly.  And taking full advantage of this, we bowled even worse.  By the way, there was an election tonight.  I didn't vote.  This isn't something I'm proud of, but I feel an uneducated decision is worse than not voting at all.

11/04/02 - Cell bio presentation at 8:00am about the ability of preadipocytes to transdifferentiate into osteoblasts. Wooohoo.  Abnormal Psychology was canceled today because the prof was at a conference. That was good.  Lifted weights with Jerry.  He's getting so strong.  Had an intramural co-ed volleyball game at 10pm.  I kind of forgot about it.  Val called at 10:05 from the Rec Center.  Luckily I was able to get a bunch of replacements very quickly.  We won the game.  Bed at 1am or so.

11/03/02 - Sunday. Went to church at Faith to see new little cousin get baptized. Have good view of baptism because we are in the very front row. Thank you Colin. After church me and Kim went to Phil and Wendi's for dinner with the whole family. Pretty boring. Took a big nap there. Came home at 3:30pm. Did nothing in particular until 5:00 and then slept until 8:30pm. Woke up and wrote a presentation for Cell Biology. Later in the evening, Kim comes back from her house. Me and Kim and Colin and Raych get into argument about farm subsidies. Me and Col say bad, women say good. I grow tired of fighting when I realize I can't win the argument. Went to bed at 1:30am after another long discussion with Mark and Colin about the evils of farm subsidies. One of these days I'll find some good links so you, the reader, can learn about these subsidies too.

11/02/02 - Wonderful day today. It's me and Kimmy's big one year anniversary spectacular. The day started at 8:00am for me. I went to work at TransOva and was there until 12:15pm. I came home and ate some French toast and took a nap. At 4:30 me and the Kimster left for Sioux Falls to celebrate. First we went to the mall so I could buy myself a new winter jacket. We found one. Next we went to the Green Mill to eat. I had a Calzone and Kim had chicken penne. It was goooooood. After the meal we went to Disc-Go-Round. I bought the Pavement release of Slanted and Enchanted: Luxe and Reduxe.  It's fantastic. I give it 12 out of 10.  It's muy bueno. Next we went to the theater to watch My Big Fat Greek Wedding. It was very funny. I give it a 9 out of 10. Very humorous. After the show, we drove home. Got back at 12:00. Kim went home to sleep. I went home and did stuff until 2:00 and then went to bed.

11/01/02 - Merry NOVEMBER!!! Class until 2:00. Went to LeMars to take engagement pictures with my lovely bride-to-be Kimmy. Pictures were sooo much fun. But seriously, it wasn't as bad as I thought it would be. The picture taker was a pretty cool dood. After the session, me and Kim went to eat at McDonalds. It was tasty. She had a Salad Shaker and I had a number 3. Then we went to Goodwill. I found a sweetass Jump-Rope-For-Heart shirt. From there we went on to Sioux City to watch the Musketeers game. There we met a bunch of people. The Muskies dominated the game, winning 7-2. After the game we went across the street to Perkins. That was also much fun. Pictures of the nights adventures are here.
