| The Zeeland was launched on November 24, 1900 and delivered April 5, 1901. She made her maiden voyage on April 13, 1901 from Antwerp to New York. In 1910 she made her first voyage for the White Star Line from Liverpool to Boston. In September 1911 she was back to the Red Star Line again on the Antwerp to New York service. In 1912 she was registered in Antwerp for the Red Star Line. In September 1914 she made her first Liverpool to New York voyage. She was later put into Canadian service. In February 1915 she was renamed Northland and started serving as troop transport, civilian service and voyages for the Shipping Controller until 1919. In 1920 she was returned to Red Star Line, Liverpool and was sent for overhaul and conversion to oil firing at Belfast and Antwerp. She was then renamed Zeeland again. On August 18, 1920 she made her first Antwerp to New York voyage as a Red Star Line ship again. She was occasionally used on the Hamburg to New York service. In 1924 she underwent resonstruction of her passenger accommodation to tourist class only. Her tonnage was then listed at 11,667 GRT. In January 1927 she was sold to the Atlantic Transport Line, Liverpool and renamed Minnesota. After one voyage from London, she was sent to Shanghai as a troop transport. In April 1927 she made her first voyage from London to New York. In October 1929 the Minnesota was sold to T. W. Ward for breaking up, and in 1930 she was scrapped at Inverkeithing. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
