The Lapland was launched on June 27, 1908 and completed March 27, 1909. She made her maiden voyage in April 1909 from Antwerp to New York. In October 1914 she sailed for White Star Line, Liverpool. On October 29, 1914 she made her first White Star voyage from Liverpool to New York. In June 1917 she served as troop transport. On September 16, 1919 she made her first post-war voyage from Southampton to New York. Her tonnage was listed as 18,565 GRT with a passenger accommodation of 389-1st Class, 448-2nd Class, 1,200-3rd Class. In 1920 she was taken over by Red Star Line, Liverpool and made her first Red Star Line voyage on January 3, 1920 from Antwerp to New York. In 1926 her 3rd class accommodation was reduced to 540 passengers and she was used mainly for cruising. During 1930 she was used for cruising only. In October 1933 the Lapland was sold for breaking up in Japan. In 1934 she was broken up.
