The Columbia was launched on February 22, 1902. She was built to replace the City of Rome. She made her maiden voyage on May 17, 1902 from Glasgow-Molville-New York. On October 17, 1914 she made her last voyage on the Glasgow-Molville-New York route. From 1914 thru 1919 the Columbia was temporarily re-named Columbella and served as an armed merchant cruiser. On August 20, 1919 she resumed the Glasgow-Molville-New York service and the name Columbia. Her passenger accommodation was listed at 72-1st Class, 430-2nd Class, 378-3rd Class. In 1921 she was converted to oil fuel. In 1922 her passenger accommodation was changed again to 492-Cabin Class, 420-3rd Class. On August 22, 1925 she made her last voyage from Glasgow-Molville-New York and back to Glasgow again. From then she was laid up in the River Clyde. On March 5, 1926 she became Moreas for the Byron Line. She made her first voyage on September 1, 1926 from Piraeus to New York. On January 15, 1927 she made her last voyage on the Piraeus to New York route. She arrived February 2nd, and departed February 16 to Piraeus. She had made only 3 round voyages. She was then laid up in Greece. In 1928 she became Moreas for the National Greek Line, but did not run for them. In July 1929 she was scrapped at Venice.
