Presentation of Ambassadors
After lunch, the Grand Duke and Grand Duchess, accompanied by the Prime Minister, made their way to the Municipal Circle, where foreign ambassadors accredited to Luxembourg were formally presented to the new sovereign.
Service of Thanksgiving
The Grand Duke and Grand Duchess, accompanied by their children and by Princess Marie-Astrid, Prince Jean and Princess Margaretha, then attended a service of thanksgiving at the Cathedral of Our Lady of Luxembourg.

Other guests at the service, which was lead by the Archbishop of Luxembourg, Monseigneur Fernand Franck, included members of the government and diplomatic corps, members of the Chamber of Deputies and other public officials, as well as representatives of Luxembourg's youth and disabled communities, at the specific request of the Grand Duke and Grand Duchess.

Civic Reception
The day took on a less formal tone as the grand-ducal family later walked from the Grand-Ducal Palace to the Town Hall. After a welcome by the Mayor of the City of Luxembourg, Paul Helminger, members of the family signed the official guest book before greeting the crowds who had gathered outside.

The Grand Duke and Grand Duchess, together with their children, then toured the twice-weekly market in the Place Guillaume. The regular event had been extended into the evening, to mark the special occasion, and the grand-ducal family joined members of the public in watching the many performing street artists and folk dances.

Military Concert
The day drew to a close with a concert performed by the military band of the Luxembourg Army before the Grand-Ducal Palace. The Grand Duke and Grand Duchess and their children assembled on the balcony, to wave to the crowds and to hear the first performance of Grand Duke Henri's March, a piece of music composed by Julien Hoffmann in honour of the Grand Duke's accession.
