| This port side view of the Tiger again gives a good view of the early cupola and the Henschel turret. Additional tracks have been hung on the turret side to increase protection there. Also visible are the towing cables, stowed along the flanks. The Tiger was literally festooned with these and with good reason. Being very heavy, it could take up to 3 Famo half track recovery vehicles to tow a damaged Tiger and broken cables were quite common. Also visible are the "s" mine launchers, the complex interwoven wheel system and the smoke launchers to the fore of the turret. One of the two Bosch headlamps are also visible to the fore of the superstructure, again this is a telltale sign of the early version, the mid and later production models having only one, centrally mounted road light instead of this versions two. |
