| This view, from the portside rear of the vehicle, allows a close up of the zimmerit anti magnetic mine paste covering. Unlike other tanks, this paste was only applied half way up the vehicle, which seems strange, until you realise the great height of the machine, the paste being applied only where infantry could reach to place a mine. Just visible to the rear, are mounting hooks and the air vent outlet. You can appreciate the great size and thickness of the superstructure here too, the front of this armored box being some 200mm thick!!! virtually impentrable to the weaponry of the day. A pistol port plug is also visible towards the rear of the fighting compartment. The tracks are not the rubber tracks provided with the kit but indvidual links sold by Jaguar for this kit. Although a pain in the but to assemble, the final result is far more authentic in my oppinion than the rubber tracks provided. Always be sure to allow your tracks to sag at the top, as in real life the heavy links did sag between the wheels or return rollers.Taught tracks are not lifelike, and can spoil a well made model. |
