Although we had Mark Psaila and Reuben Cini missing for this match, our team had an outstanding performance, especially in the second half. Upfront, Bojan Ilic and John Stivala were a continous headache for our opponents. Micheal "Gugiz" Mangion was dominant in midfield and our defence including our 'keeper Peter Said were rocksolid. Stefano Grima was very effective with his overlapping and he also found time to try a couple of shots. So did our other half-back, Jeffrey Farrugia, and he had an effort in the second hald cleared off the line. Keith Deguara, who replaced Mark Psaila was having a quiet match beyond his standards and he was substituted after 30 mins by Steve Falzon.
We started the match on a sour note as after 2 minutes our defence was caught flat and we conceeded a soft goal. However, our team did not panic and played a possessive match which paid its dividends in the end of the first half as we scored first through John Stivala and then from a penalty by Bojan Ilic. The second half seemed to be easy and matters were made easier when they had a player sent off for a foul on Ryan Calleja. We kept the possession of the ball for a long time and on 2 counter attacks, once again Bojan Ilic and John Stivala found the net.
