| 8 slices day-old white bread 2 cups diced chicken 1/2 cup chopped onion 1/2 cup chopped green pepper 1/2 cup chopped celery 1/2 cup manyonnaise or salad dressing 3/4 tsp. salt Dash of pepper 2 slightly beaten eggs 1 1/2 cups milk 1 can mushroom soup 1/2 cup shredded sharp cheese, grated |

| Butter 2 slices of the bread and cut in 1/2-inch pieces. Set aside. Cut remaining unbuttered bread in 1-inch cubes. Place half of cubed bread in a buttered casserole. Combine chicken, chopped vegetables, mayonaise and seasonings. Spoon over the bread cubes, then sprinkle remaining unbuttered bread cubes on top. Combine eggs and milk and pour over all. Cover and chill for 1 hour (better still, overnight). In morning or before baking, spoon diluted soup over the top, then sprinkle with the butterd bread cubes. Bake at 325 degrees for 50 minutes. During the last few minutes of bakink, sprinkle cheese over the top. | |||||||||||||
