I Can Write a Narrative!

Mapping Your Story

In order to write a narrative, you must think about who will be in it (the characters).  You must think about where and when (the setting) it takes place.  If your narrative is going to be a story, there must be a problem (conflict) and a solution.  You can help yourself think about these things by creating graphic organizers.  Click on the  funny pencil below, or the text below it to create and print graphic organizers for your narrative.

Writing Interesting Sentences

Sometimes, it is a good idea just to practice writing some interesting sentences for your narrative.  Click on the book below (or the text below it) to play a sentence writing game.  Make sure you have your writing journal with you when you play it.

Using the Right Words
Here is a silly way to think about how important using the right words and the correct parts of speech in your writing is.  Click on the funny face below (or the text beneath it) to write some wacky tales!

What About a Good Title?
Sometimes you will write a piece and give it a title after you are finished.  Sometimes, though, a good title will come to you (or be suggested to you) and it will give you great ideas for your writing.  Click on the pencil (or the text below it) to see what some kids did with a title that they were given!

Then click on the  journal (or the text underneath) to for some interesting title suggestions for your own writing.  Make sure you have your writing journal nearby, so you can jot down the best ideas!
