| Virtually any breed of dog can be trained as a service dog. Some breeds are high energy and require more stamina of their owner-trainer. For example: boxers. Other breeds are loners, and require more training to realize the necessity of learning their tasks. For example: Malemutes. This is one reason most service dog trainers use golden retrievers and labradors. These two breeds have all the requisite traits, are intelligent, and fairly easy to train. Personally, I wouldn't trade my boxer for two of any other dog. |
