In the year 1999, when Kusa was 16 years old, she went to Australia to take a slightly longer break than usual and to shoot a MTV for her new single. On her third last day in Australia, in the evening, she went to the " 12 Apastles " to see the sunset and calm her inner self. As Eriko was in Singapore, she has no one to talk to about her loneliness.

Koichi , a member of a popular Japanese boyband, Kinki Kids was nearby. He noticed Kusa in such a moody state. As a busybody and caring Koichi moved towards Kusa. Striking a most normal conversation!
Koichi: Konnichiwa, nice scenery isn't it?
Kusa was shocked by the surprise voice next to her. But she replied : Yeah,
you like the sea?
Koichi : Yeah, sea to me is a symbol of peace!
Kusa : Soka, watashi mo.
After a very long silence where both of them watched the sunset together.
Just when Kusa started to head back to her hotel. Koichi stopped her by
asking : May I know your name?

That was the first time Kusa saw Koichi face to face. Immediately, a strong attraction occurred.
Kusa : Watashi wa Kusa desu. Ano
Koichi : Watashi wa Koichi desu, Hajimemashite!
Kusa : Watashi mo. Erm I have to go now, see you here tomorrow?
Koichi : Sure, no problem.

Kusa felt very happy, feeling that Koichi might be the one for her. She hardly get any sleep that night. Meanwhile, Koichi was attracted by Kusa's gentleness and beauty. He could not get Kusa's face out of his mind.

The next day, both of them appear at the same time on the same spot. Both of them talk about almost everything in front of the sunset. All except work. None of them want to talk about their work. Both of them felt very comfortable with each other. They talk until very late.

Koichi walked Kusa back to her hotel only to realize that he is in the same hotel too. Both of them are shy so in turn none of them wanted to confessed their true feelings. Next day, where both of them are free, they decided to spend the day together.

In the evening,
Kusa : I am going back to Singapore tonight!
Koichi : So fast!? (looking sad)
Kusa Yes (looking sad too)
Both of them spent their "last moments" watching the sunset together.

When Koichi send Kusa off her hotel room. Koichi suddenly kiss Kusa's cheek. Kusa was shocked but she didn't say anything. After a long silence, Koichi finally confess his feeling to Kusa. Kusa was touched but she still don't dare to say her true feelings. But when Koichi asked : Will you be my girlfriend? Kusa nodded her head.

They decided to ICQ to maintain their relationship. That night, both of them parted in a very heavy heart.
