If I Was The One
I see the way
he treats you,
I feel the
tears you cried,
And it makes sad,
and it makes mad,
There's nothing
I can do baby.
Cause your lover
is my best friend,
And I guess that's
where they story ends.
So I've gotta try,
to keep it inside.
You will never be,
never be mine but,
If I was the one
who was loving you, baby.
The only tears you'd
cry would be tears of joy.
And if I was by
your side,
You'll never know
one lonely night
And if it was my
arms you were running to,
I'd give you love
in these arms of mine.
If I was the one
in your life.
If I could have just
one wish,
I'd wish that you
were mine,
I would hold you
near,
Kiss away those
tears.
I'd be so good to
you baby.
You're the one I
want next to me,
But I guess that's
just not meant to be.
He's there in your
life,
And he's sharing
your nights,
It'll never be,
never be right.
If I was the one
who was loving you, baby.
The only tears you'd
cry would be tears of joy.
And if I was by
your side,
You'll never know
one lonely night
And if it was my
arms you were running to,
I'd give you love
in these arms of mine.
If I was the one
in your life.
Yeah, baby.
I wanna reach out
and view beside me,
Right here beside
me, babe.
Take you in my arms
right there,
Scream 'I love you'
right out loud.
Some day I pray,
that I'll find the strength,
To turn to you and
say,
If I was the one
who was loving you, baby.
The only tears you'd
cry would be tears of joy.
And if I was by
your side,
You'll never know
one lonely night
And if it was my
arms you were running to,
I'd give you love
in these arms of mine.
If I was the one
in your life.
If I was the one
who was loving you, baby.
The only tears you'd
cry would be tears of joy.
And if I was by
your side,
You'll never know
one lonely night
And if it was my
arms you were running to,
I'd give you love
in these arms of mine.
If I was the one
in your life.
If I was the one,
if I was the one,
In your life.
“Hey, John” Carly called out in the shadows. “Come out, come out where ever you are.”
With a resigned sigh, Johnny DePaula stepped out of the shadows and into the sights of his boss’ wife.
“You make it very hard to guard you, you know that?”
“Oh come on, Johnny…who are you fooling, I know you’re there. Everybody knows you’re there. You’re always there.”
“Yes, well that is no reason to be screaming my name out in the middle of the night.”
“I did not scream.”
“You wanna tell me about it?”
“Not really…but how about you have a seat and watch me sulk.”
“How about I stand and watch you sulk?”
She gave an exasperated sigh, “Fine.”
They once again fell into silence, with Carly watching the water and Johnny watching her. It never ceases to amaze him how completely clueless Sonny was when it came to Carly, or how Carly could always be so willing to forgive him. But it wasn’t his place to analyze their relationship. Keeping that in mind, he chose to stay out of it. He was paid to protect Carly, nothing more.
Chapter 1
Ahh.. uh uh I'm tired of arguing girl
I'm tired I'm tired I'm tired huh
I'm tired of arguin girl
I'm tired I'm tired I'm tired huh
I'm tired of arguin girl
ticky ticky ticky ticky baby girl
It’s amazing how much her life had became like every sad, disgruntled angry love song out there in the world. Here she sat, one in the morning…ok, which wasn’t all so late in her opinion….but when you’re husbands been gone since nine in the morning, and hasn’t called in a little under twelve hours, it was cause to worry. And she worried…boy did she worry.
Did you sleep on the wrong side?
I'm catching a bad vibe
And it's contagious
What's the latest
Speak your heart, don't bite your tongue
Don't get it twisted, don't misuse it
What's your problem?
Lets resolve it
We can solve it, what's the causes?
It's official, you got issues
I got issues, but I know I miss you
Couple that with the fact that Sonny never said more than five words to her at a time when he was around. She really didn’t know what the hell to think. He was hiding something...and whatever it was, it was big. Johnny was sticking by her tighter than he usually was, and that was saying a lot. Of course, Johnny wasn’t telling her anything either, nobody was…what a surprise!
Am I supposed to change? Are you supposed to change?
Who should be hurt? Who should be blamed?
Am I supposed to change? Are you supposed to change?
Who should be hurt? Who should be ashamed?
Am I supposed to change? Are you supposed to change?
Who should be hurt? Will we remain?
You need a resolution
I need a resolution
We need a resolution
We have so much confusion
She heard the front door slammed shot just as Aaliyah began talking about changes. Without giving it a second thought, Carly was already out of her chair and running downstairs…it didn’t matter. Nothing mattered right now. He was home and hopefully still in one piece.
I want to know where were you last night?
I fell asleep on the couch, I thought we were going out
I want to know were your fingers broke?
If you had let me know I wouldn't have put on my clothes
I want to know where'd you go instead?
Coz it was four in the morning when you crept back in the bed
I want to know what was in your head?
Or what was in my head? Am I supposed to change?
He heard the music the second he stepped into the house. It wasn’t particularly loud…the apartments was just extremely quiet. Letting out a wary sigh, he slowly took off his coat and put in the closet…al the time never noticing Carly quietly standing quietly at the bottom of the steps.
“Hey,” she said quietly.
“You’re still up,” said Sonny…his voice matter of fact.
“Yeah.”
“I told you not to wait up for me.”
“I was worried.”
“You worry too much,” he said as he moved towards her, coming to directly front of her.
“Yeah, that’s me…a regular worrywart…blow everything out of proportion,” she said sarcastically.
“Carly” Sonny’s tone took a warning note.
“What? I’m not gonna ask any questions. It’s not like you’re gonna give me an answer.”
They stood there - Sonny with a stony look on his face and Carly obviously pissed - for what seemed like hours, but was actually no more than a minute. Carly was the first to break the silence.
She sighed, “Look, I don’t want to fight with you. I’m just glad you’re home, ok?”
“So am I,” Sonny responded. “I’m glad to be home. I miss you.”
“Yeah?” She questioned, her mouth inches from his.
“Yeah,” he barely whispered, before taking her mouth in searing kiss that left them both breathless.
6:00 A.M
“What are you doing?” Questioned a groggy Carly, watching as her husband hurriedly packed things into a duffel bag.
“Packing,” he gave her the most obvious response. “I have to go to Puerto Rico, and my plane leaves at 7:30.”
“You’re kidding right?”
Sonny didn’t answer.
“Ok, fine…so how long are you going to be gone.”
“Three days…a week, tops,” he answered never looking at her.
“Ok, you ever thought of telling me this more than two hours before you leave? Or, were you gonna bother telling me?”
“Carly…I have to leave. I don’t have time for this.”
“Of course not.”
“Incidentally, I didn’t think I would be going until half an hour ago.”
“You know what? I don’t really care,” she snarled as she stepped by him and stormed into the bathroom.
“Carly!” The word came out sharper than he intended.
“Go to hell,” came the slightly, but still no less biting reply.
With a frustrated sigh, Sonny grabbed his duffel bag, and left the room.
Now really was not the time to get into an argument with Carly. He’d call
her when he got on the plane.
Chapter 3
“You’re kidding me, right? I mean, that’s bull.”
Sitting across from Carly, Lucky took a sip of his coke before asking, “So, you don’t like it?”
Carly took a moment to look at him, “No, seriously what the hell were you guys thinking? The color scheme is ugly, and Gia…she should have known better. What the hell was she thinking letting Michelle dress her in that?” She sighed. “You realize that we have to re-shoot this again? There is no way in hell I’m letting the ad go out like this.”
“It’s not that bad,” Lucky said.
“It’s ugly.”
Lucky took a minute to examine the pictures. “A little.”
“A lot. And, in this business, even a smidge is a really bad thing.
You can go, just bring Gia back with you early tomorrow. I know I can get
the studio again.”
“I think Gia had plans for tomorrow,” Lucky said as he headed for the
door.
“She can cancel them. Oh, and by the way,” she said as Lucky open the door, “If you see Michelle, tell her that if she doesn’t toss out that ugly ass dress, she’s fired.”
“Yes, ma’am. See you tonight.”
Three minutes after Lucky left, came a soft knock on Carly’s door. “Come in.”
“Hey,” Laura poked her head inside the door. “I just saw Lucky, he told me that we’re doing a re-shoot tomorrow?”
“It was ugly…Michelle…the girl has no sense of anything. Michael has a better eye for color than she does.”
“They were that bad?” Carly didn’t answer. “Ok, so she had a bad night’s sleep before the shoot?”
“A really bad one that left her fashionably challenge?”
“Give her a chance, I think she might surprise you,” Laura said quietly.
“She did surprise me,” Carly said with snort. “She surprised me with her complete lack of skill in following orders and with how well she can pick out ugly dresses. Now we have to re-shoot, and one of us is going to have to supervise tomorrow and make sure she doesn’t mess up again.”
“Something else bothering you, besides a very ugly ad campaign.”
“No, nothing.” They were both silent for a moment, “Was there another reason you came in here?”
“Yeah,” Laura’s face lighted up remembering her news. “Bloomingdale now carries deception cosmetics.”
“Oh that’s great,” Carly said, as her phone rang.. “Two seconds,” she told Laura, picking up the phone. “Carly Corinthos…hold on a moment please.” Putting the persons on the other line on hold, she turned to Laura. “Can we talk some more later?”
“Yeah, sure,” Laura said, getting. “I have to head home, don’t spend too much time here. I’ll see you tonight.”
“Lucky just said the same thing. What’s tonight?”
“Dinner at the club. Bobbie told you about it. I told you about it. Luke told you about it.”
“Ok, that must be it, I probably chose to blank it out after Uncle Luke told me about it. Michael and I will be there.”
“See you later,” Laura said, leaving Carly to her conversation.
