SCENE MONICA AND CHANDLERS, MONICA AND CHANDLER ARE WATCHING LATE NIGHT WITH CONAN O'BRIEN. THEY
ARE SITTING NEXT TO EACH OTHER SHARING A BLANKET.
Mon: wanna go to bed soon?
Chan: in a little bit, i wanna see what bit will be on tonight.
Mon: ok. (snuggles closer to him)
TIME LAPSE 20 MINUTES. MONICA AND CHANDLER ARE STILL LAUGHING FROM THE PREVIOUS BIT.
Mon: oh my god that was hilarious!
Chan: (still laughing) oh i'm gonna steal that joke! you wanna see who the first guest is?
Mon: sure.
TVCONAN: Welcome back! our first guest tonight is a beautiful actress, you can now see her in the new independent movie
"Just Looking" Kathy Hartman! (i don;t know kathy's real last name, either way its a stage name)
Chan: (shocked) oh
Mon: (shocked) my
Mon and Chan: (at the sight of Kathy) God!!!! (still watching
Conan: Thanks for being here!
Kathy: Thanks for having me, it's great to be back in NYC!
Conan: so you used to live here?
Kathy: yea, i went to LA a couple of years ago, but i've lived here most of my life.
Conan: so you left to do Just Looking
Kathy: actually i left to sell a screenplay. I wrote a screenplay around 2 or 3 years ago and it got sold right after i did Just Looking.
Conan: yea we should talk about this, what is the script about?
Kathy: Its called Reunion. its about a ex girlfriend trying to get back togther with a old flame.
Conan: are you seeing someone right now?
Kathy: nope
Conan: (intrigued) so you mean you;re avialible?
Kathy: (flirty) for the short term at least
Conan: ooo! Well, i never hit on guests, but i can make an exception! (does some flirting) yea i just made a jackass outta myself
Kathy: (laughing) you remind me of the guy in the script!
Conan: really? so the script is based on real life?
Kathy: yea its about the relationship i had with this guy a few years ago, and it should make a good movie
Conan: are you still in contact with the guy?
Kathy: no but i'll see him this week.
Conan: good luck with that, now lets talk about your movie-(at this point Monica hits the mute button)
Chan: wow, she looked great! (off monica's look) not as great as you though!
Mon: Chandler! Did you hear what she said?
Chan: yea she wrote a screenplay!
Mon: she wants you back!
Chan: really? where'd you get that idea?
Mon: (yelling) she said so!
Chan: when?
Mon: Just now! a few years ago! you remind me of him, i hope to see him soon!
Chan: (thinking) huh.
Mon: what are you thinking about?
Chan: its just too bad she can;t have me! (kisses monica)
Mon: so you don't have any feelings for her?
Chan: (pauses) um, nope!
Mon: (Standing up getting mad) you paused! you had to think! (goes to bedroom, slams the door)
Chan: what the hell did i do? (lies back on the couch) oh well. (hits the mute button and watches TV)
SCENE CHANDLER AND MONICA'S, THE NEXT MORNING. CHANDLER WAKES HIMSELF UP BY SNEEZING
Chan: ah! (coughs) Dammit!
MONICA EXITS THE BEDROOM
Mon: what's wrong?
Chan: (looks at monica and sneezes) nothing! (grabs a tissue and blows his nose) i guess i caught a cold from sleeping on
the cold cold couch!
Mon: I'm sorry, i just overreacted last night. (hugs him)
Chan: ok, but next time get mad at me in the afternoon so i don't have to sleep in the living room!
Mon: Why didn't you sleep in the guest room?
Chan: hmm. yea that woulda made sense, and i can't have anything where something makes sense! (monica laughs, leans in for a kiss) whoa
there, i don;t want you catching my cold!
Mon: i'll risk it! (kisses him. the kiss lasts when Joey and Rachel walk in)
Joey: niiiiiiccccce! (rachel slaps his arm) what?
Rachel: pig. (suggestively) so what did you two do last night?
Chan: i slept on the couch.
Jo: whadja do?
Chan: i forget, monica honey, what did i do last night? (folds his arms)
Mon: (ashamed) nothing.
Rach: why did you sleep on the couch when my old room was avialible?
Chan: (deadpan) i'm gonna take a shower. (walks to bathroom)
Rach: Monica honey I'm all for punishing Chandler when he is wrong, but if he did nothing then what's the problem?
Mon: remember Kathy?
Jo: who?
Mon: kathy! the one who dumped you for Chandler!
Rach: the Kathy?
Jo: (thinking) kathy, kathy...oh yea! She broke my heart!
Mon: no she didn;t!
Jo: well she left me for Chandler! That's embarassing!
Rach: (sighing) what about Kathy?
Mon: she was on the Conan O'Brien show last night! (rachel gasps)
Jo: what? how? i've been trying to get on that show for years!
Mon: she was a guest Joey!
Jo: and i've been trying to get on as a guest!
Mon: (rolling her eyes) anyways, she apparently wrote a screenplay.
Rach: good for her!
Mon: about her and Chandler's relationship!
Rach: what? she said that?
Mon: no she said it was with a guy she dated a few years ago, and she also said that conan reminded him of the guy!
Rach: well that could be anyone!
Mon: It's Chandler!
Jo: It could be me!
Rach: sure Joey, sure.
Jo: whats the big deal anyways? its not like chandler's gonna leave you for Kathy!
Rach: yea really, stop obessing over nothing.
Mon: possibly.
Jo: nah its just typical monica behavior.
Mon: (snappy) what?
Jo: (scared) nothing! i didn't say anything!
Rach: so why did you get mad at chandler?
Jo: did he call you Kathy in the middle of sex?
Mon: no, i asked him if he had any feelings for her and he said he didn't.
Rach: then why did you get mad at him?
Mon: he paused!
Jo: he what?
Mon: he paused before he answered!
Rach: so you got mad at him because he had to think?
Mon: (sheepishly) yea.
Jo: wow chandler puts up with a lot! (off monica's look) at work!
Rach: honey, he loves you! he proposed to you! he's not gonna leave you!
Mon: i know i know, i just felt so jealous when i saw her on TV!
Jo: hey now you know how chandler feels whenever he sees richard!
Mon: really? (thinks) wow he musta felt so bad when i went to lunch with him that time!
Rach: so what's for breakfast?
Jo: yea i'm starvin!
Mon: can you guys leave! i gotta talk to chandler!
Jo: (winking) what kind of talk?
Rach: why do you gotta make everything all dirty?
Jo: what? you know they're gonna do it!
Rach: (dragging joey out) well you don;t have to say it out loud!
Jo: bye! (they exit)
Mon: Chandler! Chandler!
Chan: (running out of the bathroom with a towel and shaving cream on his face) what what?
Mon: i have to talk to you!
Chan: oh god, what did i do now?
Mon: you didn't do anything. i just need to talk to you!
Chan: Can i finish shaving first?
Mon: of course! (he returns to the bathroom. Monica locks the door and shuts the drapes. Chandler
emerges from the bathroom)
Chan: what's up?
Mon: i'm really sorry about last night, i just had a moment of tempoary insanity.
Chan: (hugs her) its ok Mon, i've been there. (beat) many times.
Mon: please let me make it up to you!
Chan: (happily) ok! I'll have waffles with strawberries!
Mon: what?
Chan: i'd love some breakfast! i'm starving!
Mon: waffles? ok, lemmie just (seductive) change out of my clothes, and then i'll serve you!
Chan: (dumb smile) ok! (sits down at kitchen table, watching monica sa-shay into their bedroom.
Chandler then realizes what she was saying, and gets a look of panic on his face and runs into the
bedroom)
TIME LAPSE 2 HOURS, MONICA EMERGES FROM THE BEDROOM WITH A CONTENT SMILE
ON HER FACE. CHANDLER FOLLOWS HER OUT OF THE BEDROOM.
Chan: well now i have to take another shower!
Mon: breakfast will be waiting for you!
Chan: sex and breakfast, what a way to start the day! (monica laughs. chandler walks into the bathroom.)
Mon: (humming while she makes a pot of coffee. she mixes eggs, milk and bisquick in a bowl when Chandler walks up behind her
and kisses her neck. She shivers at the action) What happened to taking a shower?
Chan: after our little tryst? I smell like you! i won't have to shower for a month!
Mon: you and your sweet statements! (turns around and kisses him. The kiss last for minutes when the phone rings. they let
the machine pick up the call)
Machine: (chandler's voice) you've reached chandler and monica's leave a message at the beep! (kathy's voice appears) Chandler?
You live with Monica now? it's kathy, i um, just wanted to talk to you, gimmie a call at the Plaza hotel, i'm in room 435, maybe we can
get togther and have dinner or something. I'll be in town all week. Bye.
CHANDLER AND MONICA HAVE A LOOK OF SHOCK ON THEIR FACES WHILE THEY ARE STILL KISSING! CHANDLER'S EYES
ARE WIDE OPEN, WHILE MONICA'S ARE BUGGING OUT OF HER HEAD. THEY SLOWLY PULL AWAY FROM EACH OTHER.
Mon: wow!
Chan: huh. I guess you were right!
Mon: (snapping) i'm always right!
Chan: calm down honey, its not like i have any feelings for her.
Mon: you don't?
Chan: of course not! it was just a shock to see her on tv.
Mon: so are you gonna see her?
Chan: i don't know, maybe.
Mon: (annoyed) maybe?
Chan: (scared) no i am not gonna see her!
Mon: (resuming cooking) good!
Chan: (sitting down) wow i've never seen you so jealous before!
Mon: i'm not jealous!
Chan: it's nothing to be ashamed about! it just shows you love me.
Mon: i'm not jealous!
Chan: oh really? so you don't mind if i have lunch with kathy then?
Mon: (lying through her teeth) no, go ahead and call her!
Chan: if you say so! (picks up phone)
Mon: you're gonna call her now?
Chan: no i just like touching the phone whenever i get a chance! (dialing)
Mon: why don;t you call her later?
Chan: why don;t you admit you're jealous?
Mon: (death stare) call her later!
Chan: yes'm.
SCENE CENTRAL PERK, PHOEBE, RACHEL AND ROSS ARE DRINKING COFFEE AND DOING NOTHING.
Phoebe: did you guys see Conan last night?
Ross: the barbarian?
Rach: no Late Night with Conan O'Brien. (ross shrugs his shoulders) its a talk show on after Leno!
Ro: oh i go to bed at 10:30 every night.
Phoe: (mutters) loser
Rach: so you saw kathy?
Ro: kathy? kathy who?
Phoe: chandler's ex
Ro: oh yea. (looks up in appreacation of kathy) so what happened?
Rach: monica thinks she wants Chandler back.
Phoe: she does!
Rach & Ro: really?
Phoe: well she did make some suggestive comments while on the show.
MONICA AND CHANDLER WALK IN BICKERING
Chan: why don't you just admit it?
Mon: because i am not jealous!
Chan: this isn;t a game! you won't lose if you admit it!
Phoe: whats going on?
Mon: nothing
Chan: kathy called me
Ro Phoe Rach: what/she did
Mon: and now he thinks i'm jealous cuz kathy called!
Chan: i don;t think you're jealous, i know you are!
Mon: i am not!
Chan: whatever. Gunther can i get a mocha latte please?
Ro: so are you gonna see her?
Chan: i'm gonna give her a call her later. (monica bristles at the comment)
Rach: why are you gonna call her?
Chan: (joking) cuz i'm gonna dump monica and get back togther with kathy!
Mon: haha, still not jealous!
Phoe: then why is your aura all green?
Mon: i'm not jealous!
Rach: looks like jealousy runs in the family!
Ro: what the hell does that mean?
Rach: well you were all jealous when i first got my job at bloomingdales,
you were totally jealous of me and that guy mark.
Ro: i had a right to be!
Rach: i wouldn;t cheat on you!
Chan: well you did go out with Mark after you two broke up.
Rach: after!
Phoe: still.
Mon: didn;t he say he didn;t wanna do anything with ross in the picture?
Rach: i, well, please you should talk, you're totally jealous!
Chan: thank you!
Mon: ok you know what, call her! call her right now!
Chan: ok i will! (gets up to call kathy)
Mon: see? if i were jealous would i be so calm right now? (her right arm is
involuntarily twiching)
Ro: what's up with your arm?
Mon: (seeing her shaking arm) nothing, it's just...cold in here! (her leg
starts to convulse) oh god!
Chan: (returning) she wasn't there. (to monica) honey you feeling ok?
Mon: (fake voice) i'm fine! i just need some tea! (gets up and goes to
counter)
Phoe: well that was interesting, but i have to go!
Ro Rach & Chan: bye!
Phoe: you guys don;t wanna know where i'm going?
Ro: not really!
Rach: nope
Chan: huh?
Phoe: fine, screw you all! (storms out)
Chan: what's up with that?
Ro: no idea!
Monica returns
Rach: so what are you gonna do with Kathy?
Chan: i don't know, she probably just wants to talk, what with that movie
she wrote.
Ro: you don;t think she wants to get back togther with you?
Chan: it's been three years Rach. Even if she did why would i want to get back togther
with her?
Mon: (smiles) yea!
Chan: (joking) I mean she cheated on me!
Mon: what?
Chan: gotcha! (everyone but monica laughs, when kathy enters)
Kathy: Chandler!
Chan: (shocked) Kathy! (gets up) what a surprise!
Kat: i knew i'd find you here! (hugs him much to monica's chargin)
Chan: (Not hugging her) where else would i be?
Kat: how are you? I hear you're living with monica now.
Chan: we're engaged actually. (monica stands up and quickly shows her the
ring)
Mon: (smug smile) hi kathy
Kat: (face falls, puts on fake smile) Wow, you guys are getting married.
that's great for the two of you.
Chan: yea, hey i saw you on conan last night, you were good!
Kat: thanks. (pause) i'd really love it if we could get togther sometime and
catch up on things.
Mon: didn;t you already do that? (sees glare from Chandler)
Chan: Um sure, how bout lunch tommorow?
Kat: i can;t tommorow, how bout dinner tonight at the Four Seasons?
Chan: Monica honey?
Mon: well i have to work tonight....
Chan: well then i'm free
Kat: great, see you at 7:00!
Chan: 7:00 it is. bye! (kathy leaves) this ok with you?
Mon: (hiding massive anger) it's fine sweetie! I know you wouldn't do
anything.
Chan: i'm sorry i made all those jokes about you being jealous, i can see
that you are much more stable then i am.
Mon: yes. Now if you'll excuse me, i have to go to the bathroom. (leaves)
Chan: (to others) she took that well!
Rach: a little too well! (hearing a thump in the background) what was that?
Ro: i didn;t hear anything!
Chan: i think the cappacino machine moved or something.
Rach: eh. (monica returns)
Mon: ready to go shopping?
Chan: don;t you remember? I gotta play raqcetball today with Doug and a few other company big-wigs. I gotta whole
lotta ass to kiss.
Mon: when do you think you'll get back?
Chan: 4 or 5, so i won;t see you till 11. Have a great day at work honey!
Mon: bye. (he leaves)
Rach: hey mon i'll go shopping with you?
Mon: No i gotta clean something. (she leaves)
Rach: whats up with her?
Ro: no idea.
Woman: hey gunther there's a hole in the wall in the ladies room!
Gunther: really?
ROSS AND RACHEL LOOK AT EACH OTHER AND SHAKE THEIR HEADS
SCENE MONICA AND CHANDLER'S 5:30, CHANDLER WALKS IN SURPRISED TO SEE MONICA
Chan: hey babe, what are you doing here?
Mon: i decided to take a night off.
Chan: Why?
Mon: i didn't feel like working tonight.
Chan: are you feeling ok?
Mon: yea. how was raqcetball?
Chan: my voice hurts from using my fake laugh for the last few hours. Otherwise things went smoothly. By any chance does your
skipping work have anything to do with the fact that i am going to dinner with an old flame?
Mon: of course not!
Chan: monica its ok if you have a problem with this. Hell when you went to lunch with richard that time, i know i went crazy.
Mon: that's hardly the same!
Chan: you're right, because this time you actually know where i'm going. (monica looks down) I won;t think any less of you.
Mon: (smiles) go. i completely trust you.
Chan: that means a lot to me. (kisses her)
Mon: when are you gonna leave?
Chan: Soon. (checks the time) i better get changed then. (goes into the bedroom)
Mon: ok (follows him into bedroom) you're gonna wear your good suit?
Chan: well it is the Four Seasons, so yeah i guess. (putting on shirt)
Mon: what time do you think you'll be back?
Chan: I figure 9:30, 10:00 (monica exhales) tommorow morning
Mon: huh?
Chan: joking. (putting on pants) what are you gonna do tonight?
Mon: catch a movie with phoebe i guess.
Chan: (finishing dressing up) exciting. (goes to the bathroom to comb his hair. Comes out looking respectable) How do i look?
Mon: (sadly) fabulous.
Chan: are you sure you want me to go?
Mon: (unsure) yes
Chan: positive?
Mon: (pushing him out the door) go, be home before 10.
Chan: will do. (kisses her, exits)
MONICA LOOKS AT THE DOOR FOR THE NEXT 10 MINUTES. PHOEBE AND JOEY ENTER
Phoe: hey mon where's youre lesser half?
Jo: on a date with Kathy i hear.
Mon: its not a date, its just two people catching up!
Phoe: yea two ex-luvers! (monica trembles at that comment)
Mon: (to herself) he has no feelings for her, everything will be fine....
Jo: you ok monica?
Mon: i just can;t stop picturing them togther! (beginning to cry) i mean, i completely trust chandler, but there's this doubt that he'll leave me
for kathy!
Jo: that ridiculous!
Mon: i know, but i just can;t shake this feeling. (starts crying)
Phoe: Come on monica, (hugs her, Joey smiles at the image) i know how to cheer you up.
Jo: (suggestivly) i'll be you do!
Phoe: would you like something to drink? (monica shakes her head) wanna see a movie? (monica shakes her head) wanna go spy on chandler?
Mon: yes.
Phoe: ok, lets go. Joey you coming?
Jo: sure. (they leave)
SCENE FOUR SEASONS MONICA PHOEBE AND JOEY ARE STANDING OUTSIDE LOOKING THOURGH THE WINDOW
Mon: can you see them?
Phoe: no i but do see some guy who look like Bob Saget!
Jo: where!
Phoe: by the bar.
Jo: wow, a bob saget lookalike!
Mon: where are they?
Phoe: maybe they had dinner in her room.
Mon: (snaps) what?
Phoe: well the plaza is connected to the Four Season.
Mon: oh god!
Jo: there they are! (points to a now sitting Chandler and Kathy)
Mon: they're talking. And laughing! what are they talking about? what? (turns to joey, starts shaking him) what are they talking about?
Jo: ahhh i don't know! (monica continues to shake him)
Phoe: well at least they are in the restaurant and not in her room!
Mon: (stops shaking joey) we're going in!
Jo: aren't we underdressed for the Four Seasons?
Phoe: (Undoing the clip in her hair) Maybe you are.
Mon: we're not gonna eat there! ok, lets go.
SCENE LOBBY OF THE FOUR SEASONS. MONICA JOEY AND PHOEBE ENTER.
Mon: phoebe, go to the matron and distract him! I'm gonna hide behind those plants behind Chandler and Kathy's table!
Phoe: ok. (walks up to matron) hey there sweet thing, do you have a reservation for a Ms Trot?
Matron: (snooty) What was that name again?
Phoe: Trot, first name Hot to? (starts winking at the guy)
Matron: (cooly) sorry no Trot on the reservation list,
Phoe: eh? (walks back to Monica and Joey) he stiffed me! Me!
Jo: What? no would ever reject you! he must be gay then!
Phoe: thank you joey
Mon: wait, if he's gay....Joey, do your thing!
Jo: the cabbage patch?
Mon: no flirt with that guy and distract him!
Jo: ho no, i am not flirting with some dude!
Mon: i'll make you jam.....
Jo: (torn) ......fine! you owe me! (goes to the guy) hey
Matron: (smiles) hey, do you have a reseervation?
Jo: actually i wanted to ask you a question.
Matron: (flirty) oh? what would that be?
Jo: (grimincing) how....you...doin?
Matron: wha?
Jo: (cheery) how you doin?
Matron: (smiles) i'm doin good. REAL good now.
Jo: (nervously) you wanna talk, over there? (points behind him after he speaks)
Matron: yes, yes i do! (he and joey walk to the window, passing monica. Joey mouths "you owe me!" and monica sneaks into the restaurant.
She ducks behind a table, and crawls down the room. She kneels behind the desert cart, and sees Chandler and Kathy laughing. She
frowns and moves further down the room, near the entrance to the kitchen. She dodges a waiter and a busboy by going to the ladies room.
After checking if the coast is clear, she manevers her way between two big leafy plants right behind Chandler and Kathy's table.)
Kat: (laughing) he said the wrong name at the altar? That's worse then saying the wrong name during sex!
Chan: And that was divorce number 2.
Kat: (eating) this is nice.
Chan: the food?
Kat: no, us, togther.
Chan: (drinking some wine) i guess.
Kat: so tell me, how did you and monica hook up?
Chan: it was in england, night before the wedding. She was really depressed about a whole lotta stuff, and i just comforted her that night.
then somehow we kissed each other, and things just escalated, and the bickiety bam! we sleep togther. (monica smiles at the memory)
I guess we enjoyed each so much we kept on doing it until we became a couple.
Kat: how long has the relationship lasted?
Chan: almost three years. We moved in togther a year and a half ago .
Kat: Any major fights?
Chan: (thinking) well she once went to lunch with an old boyfriend without telling me, and my usual male insanity, but overall
we've had no major fights.
Kat: (down) you seem really happy with her.
Chan: I am. I really am. (monica is grinning)
Kat: i feel like an idiot for letting you go.
Chan: you didn't let me go, you cheated on me.
Kat: i know, its just that you didn;t call, and--
Chan: its ok, i had no idea how to maintain a relationship back then.
Kat: but now?
Chan: i have a better idea now.
Kat: do you ever think about me?
Chan: honestly? Only once. (monica is shocked) When i was thinking about proposing to monica.
Kat: why would you think about me when you were gonna propose to her?
Chan: i was trying to come up with something to say. She helped me a lot after we broke up.
Kat: Hmp. So she got you on the rebound?
Chan: I wish! We got togther 5-6 months after we broke up. So tell me about you're lovelife?
Kat: i haven't had one since we broke up.
Chan: really?
Kat: i've gone on a lotta dates, but nothing serious.
Chan: so you and Nick never got togther?
Kat: Nick?
Chan: the guy you slept with when we broke up.
Kat: oh god no! I never really liked him in that way, i was just in a bad place when we fought and..
Chan: i get it, no need to explain.
Kat: well, you were the last relationship i had. (starting to cry) I really wish i didn't ruin what we had. We had something special.
Chan: (caressing her hand, Monica is fuming at the sight) I don't think we had anything special, we had the potiential for something special. And you
didn;t ruin our relationship, we both did. Either way i'm glad it happened.
Kat: you are?
Chan: yea, i glad cuz now i'm with the person i'm supposed to be with.
Kat: (softly) monica
Chan: yea. (monica smiles again, scoots closer to the table) You'll find someone Kathy.
Kat: (wiping away tears) why does everyone say that to me?
Chan: i haven't the slightest idea, i guess it sounds good or something. (eats) So why did you wanna have dinner with me?
Kat: I wanted to talk to you. Talk about life. Maybe see if you wanted to get back togther. (chandler chokes on his food, Monica is angry)
but i see you've obiously moved on.
Chan: it's been three years Kathy.
Kat: i know, it was a longshot to begin with. (eats)
Chan: (uncomfortable silence) so tell me about this movie you wrote.
Kat: its about us mainly, dressed up for the screen of course.
Chan: so guy meets girl, steals her from guys best friend, breaks up over stupid fight?
Kat: but here they get back togther.
Chan: ah. Sounds like a good chick flick.
Kat: thats what the studio executive said!
Chan: Typical. So your career is launching, i heard some good things about Just Looking.
Kat: yea, my career is going really really well. (they continue eating)
Chan: i'm happy for you.
Kat: really?
Chan: yea. I hope your career goes really well so i can tell my kids i used to date a famous movie star.
Kat: you still can if you want.
Chan: No thanks, although thanks for the offer. (they finish eating)
Kat: dinner's on me, you wanna get desert?
Chan: no thanks, i should get back to Monica now. (they stand up)
Kat: yea. I hope you have a nice life with her.
Chan: so do I. Good luck with your movie career. I mean it.
Kat: thanks. (they hug) give monica my regards.
Chan: I will. (grabs his coat) I'll seeya around Kathy.
Kat: bye.
MONICA SMILES HAPPILY AND STANDS UP, KNOCKING OVER A DESERT TRAY CAUSING A LOUD CRASH. EVERYONE IN
THE RESTAURANT, INCLUDING KATHY AND CHANDLER. MONICA HAS A SHEEPISH LOOK ON HER FACE.
Chan: Monica?
Mon: (nonchalantly) Hey sweetie! Hi kathy, um, uh
Matron: (running in) who are you and how the hell did you get in here?
Mon: Ok, here's what happened. I-- (sprints out of the restaurant)
Chan: (watching monica run out, to kathy) gimmie a call sometime, i might just take you up on your offer.
TIME LAPSE. SCENE MONICA AND CHANDLERS. MONICA IS ON THE BALCONY LOOKING AT THE STARS. CHANDLER WALKS IN ANGRY.
Mon: (nervous, going back in) Hi chandler
CHANDLER IS SILENT AS HE WALKS INTO THE BEDROOM AND TAKES OFF HIS JACKET.
Mon: I'm sorry about tonight.
Chan: (cold) what are you sorry about?
Mon: embarassing you in front of Kathy.
Chan: it was the entire restaurant you embarassed me in front of since i had to pay for the cart you knocked over.
Mon: (embarassed) oh god, i'm really sorry.
Chan:i don't care about that monica. I just can't believe after all this time, after all the stuff we've been through you cannot seem to trust me
Mon: i trust you!
Chan: no you don't! Otherwise you wouldn't of spied on me and kathy! Do you really think i would consider leaving you for another woman
let alone Kathy?
Mon: no it just that-
Chan: what?
Mon: (crying) Look, um, (sighs) of course i trust you chandler, its just that i couldn;t trust myself!
Chan: wha?
Mon: i know you would never leave me, but i kept on thinking, that i wasn't good enough for you, and that kathy with her new fame, would be
better for you! The thought of that made me crazy! (pause) I'm sorry about tonight Chandler
Chan: (softening) Monica, look at your left hand. Do you see that ring?
Mon: (between sobs) of course
Chan: i didn't buy that ring for you just to make you happy, i bought that ring because i want to spend the rest of my life with you.
(pause) Do you know what i told Kathy tonight?
Mon: yeah, i heard your conversation.
Chan: you did. (frowns at Monica) Well i guess you know how i feel.
Mon: i'm really sorry Chandler, about everything. I do trust you you know. (chandler is silent). Are you mad at me?
Chan: (sighs) i'm not mad at you Monica, i'm just disapointed with you. (monica crys harder) (Chandler thinks for a minute)
Look, i can understand why you would be jealous, hell i've been there, but i asked you and you lied to me! I understand
we can;t tell each other every signle secret we have, but you don't lie about something this serious. I know you hate admitting weakness in any way
but please, for both of our sakes, tell me the truth next time.
Mon: i will, and i'm sorry about everything.
Chan: C'mere. (they hug) So you heard everything i said to Kathy?
Mon: Yea.
Chan: i really hope she does become a movie star, so i can tell our kids that daddy used to date a movie star. And when they ask me why
i didn't marry her, i'd tell them i loved their Mother too much.
Mon: (smiles) i love you! (goes to kiss him, he blocks her. Chandler goes into the bedroom and brings out a pillow and blanket)
Chan: you can sleep on the couch tonight! (gives her the pillow and blanket, kisses her cheek) goodnight!
Mon: i could sleep in the guest room!
Chan: up to you, i know i wouldn't. (shuts the bedroom door)
MONICA WALKS TOWARD THE GUEST ROOM, BUT DECIDES TO SLEEP ON THE COUCH. TIME LAPSE, 1 HOUR 34 MINUTES LATER. CHANDLER OPENS THE DOOR AND
SEES MONICA SLEEPING ON THE COUCH. HE SMILES AND WALKS OVER AND KISSES HER ON THE LIPS. SHE WAKES UP.
Mon: what are you doing? what time is it?
Chan: i'm glad you slept on the couch. Come on, lets go to bed.
Mon: i thought you were trying to punish me.
Chan: Well sleeping without you is really just me punishing myself.
Mon: (joking) well sleeping with you is always a punishment for me!
Chan: ha ha. (kisses her and picks her up)
Mon: whoa! You've been working out!
Chan: why are you getting fatter? (she hits him) (refering to the hit) i can't compete with that.
Mon: i can! (she kisses him as he lays her down on the bed)
