Squire
Prerequisites:
none
Weapons: Knife, Sword, Hammer, Axe
Armor: Hat,Clothes
Nearly every character in the game starts out with this job.  Characters with special jobs like Agrias and Gafgarion have a different job title and different action abilities, but their other abilities in that job are the same as the Squire's.  Also, Ramza will get special abilities unique to him in this job category each time you advance a chapter.

Chemist
Prerequisites:
none
Weapons:
Knife, Gun
Armor: Hat, Clothes
The least interesting, yet one of  the most useful jobs in the game. It is paramount to have your charachters learn most if not all of the chemists abilities for use later on in the game.
**
Knight
Prerequisites: Lv.2 Squire
Weapons: Sword, Knigt Sword
Armor: Helmet, Armor, Robe, Shield
Knights have a high amount of HP and high attack power however the Knights "Break" ability aren't very useful.  However this is a good job for Ramza untill you have opened Lancer.
****
Archer
Prerequisites:
Lv.2 Squire
Weapons: Bow, Crossbow
Armor: Hat, Clothes, Shield
When set with Arrow Guard And Concentrate abilities, Archers can be quite useful. Unfortunately, their attacks are only effective from high places. Bad terrain can be a nightmare, so becareful.  Also don't equip crossbowsif you can help it.  Bows are much more versatile.
**
Monk
Prerequisites:
Lv.2 Knight
Weapons: N/A
Armor: clothes
Monks are certianly cheap to maintain, as they have high HP and attack power and don't need any weapons or expensive armor.  They also have a wide array of useful abilities that dont take up MP or charging.  An excellent job for the first half of the game.
*****
Priest
Prerequisites:
Lv.2 Chemist
Weapons: Staff
Armor:
Hat, Clothes, Robe
Priests have, at their disposal the standard array of healing type spells. However some spells aren't very useful. But the Priests Holy Spell is very useful in the second half of the game so its still a good idea to keep one around.  When choosing someone to be a Priest(or any other magic user)  make sure they have high faith for better results.
**
Wizard
Prerequisites:
Lv.2 Chemist
Weapons: Rod
Armor: Hat, Clothes, Robe
Wizards are the black magic counterparts of Priests.  They're especially good at damaging whole groups of enemies at a time.  They are not overly effective until you build up their magic but by the time that you do they will no longer be needed as there will be better magic using jobs available.
