This is my AMMCO metal shaper. It's really NEAT!
It has a 7" stroke. I am restoring it. It is completely disassembled. I am stripping off all the paint and polishing the bare metal. Then painting and reassembling it. It's in better shape than it looks. It is coated with cosmolene that makes it look bad. NOT FOR LONG!
First thing I did was give it a washdown with kerosene.
You can see the ugly brush paint that I am stripping off.
Lots of clean up work to do!
The whole shaper is completely disassembled and spread out on a workbench. I have to get it all stripped to bare metal for painting and polishing. It came right apart with no force. I can find no broken or worn parts!   IT'S A GEM! Really hard to find these 1940's benchtop shapers! Gonna look great in my little machine shop!

Still lots of work to do yet, but I'm on my way. The clean up is the worst part.
On to page 2, the CLEAN-UP!
