Ancient Celtic so called because it is patterned after the 14th century Doublin College Harp, one of the oldest surviving medieval musical instruments. It is the symbol on the Irish flag and the harp seen on the label of Guiness beer.
The soundbox of the original harp was carved out of a single block of willow probably because medieval glues were not very good. This harp is of all solid hardwood including the soundboard. The strings are bronze. It has a bell-like ring and a very long sustain.
