Guatemala Lutheran Schools
Lutheran Education in Guatemala began in 1951 when Divine Savior Lutheran Church of Zacapa opened an elementary school. For years, it was the only school in the country.

In 1991, Redeemer of the World Lutheran Church launched a preschool in the Maya Cakchiquel village of Santiago Zamora. From the eleven students who attended the first year, the school has grown to inlcude an elementary and middle school an enrollment of 110 students.

Martin Luther Middle School was the next to open. It began with grade seven to provide a Christian education to Quich Maya in the Chajabal area. It now has all three middle school grades and has recently began a preschool. Without the school there is no educational opportunity for the local children beyond sixth grade.

Mighty Fortess Lutheran School is located in the captial city of Guatemala.

Christ the Savior Lutheran School is in the city of Puerto Barrios on the Carribean coast.
