| Do Brazilians speak Spanish? Some Brazilians can speak it pretty well. Well... so do Americans. The national language is Portuguese. Because Portuguese is somehow close to Spanish most people can understand Spanish and if needed speak "Portunhol" / " Portuspanish" (Mix of Portuguese with Spanish). @---/---- What are some of the things that are different in Brazil? I've been learning this step by step, so this is not a complete answer. Only some examples.... Greetings: a kiss (in fact 2 kisses in my city, in some cities, 3 kisses). How to use: ladies greet ladies, gentlemen greet ladies. Men handshake or give a little tap at the shoulder. Social norms: You don't need to call first when you go so someone's place. Well, that's a general rule. If someone goes to your house, most of the time you treat them with food. If you're eating something you always make sure to offer to the other people. Brazilians are always late. Well, it's unfair to say that. Let's rephrase. Most of the people will set a meeting to 5:15 if they want it to start at 5:30 or 5:45. The weather: It doesn't snow. Well, at the very south of the country, once in a while it does. In Sao Paulo: It rains almost ever. Food: Fresh and homemade most of the time. There is a growing tendency, specially in Sao Paulo of using fast-food and stuff like that. Lunch is the main meal. People: Its a multicultural Contry. Prejudice exists but is not that strong. In Sao Paulo its difficult to find someone that doesn't have a mix heritage. Easy you'll find descendants of Chinese, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese, Italian, English, German, etc. By the way, my ancestors are from: Philippines, USA, France, Italy, Spain, Brazil, Africa. @---/---- I didn't finish this, please Come back later for atualizations!!!! Questions from children: Are there monkeys your house in Brazil? Is Brazil in Planet Earth? |
