Canada is a land filled with large trees which cover a total of 997 million hectares. Temperate and boreal forests cover almost half of Canada's land mass.

Canada alone holds 10% of the world's forests and nearly 25% of the world's fresh water, which is mostly located in forested areas). Our trees take on very important roles in the environment, they moderate our climate and filter our air and water. They offer natural habitas for wild animals and plants while giving us humans a place of natural beauty to visit. It is estimated that 140 000 species of plants take cover within the forested areas of Canada.

Canada's forests are among the richest and rarest in the world. Currently over half of these large ancient forests have been destroyed. Logging industries and companies must make note that clear-cutting are not sustainable choices for the future of our forests. We are actually cutting out forests by at least 20% faster than they can regrow. Unless the Canadian government can act immediatley, the forests today will not be here tomorrow.
