::SARS is getting scary: at church they've temporarily stopped giving host on the tongue for health reasons; there are now warnings to avoid being in public places like shopping malls; another hospital is closing its doors; my aunt called this morning from Singapore to tell us that my baby cousin's school has been closed...
Is it a deadly diesease from Asia or some form of biological warfare (as bcor suggests?) Comment of the day re: how many people infected in China:
"We don't know... We know we don't know, and we think they don't know."

Friday night I was taken to
Far Niente for dinner. The restaurant is so nice and suave, yet we were straight out of a Seinfeld episode. Let this be a lesson to restaurants out there to fill all bread baskets equally! I'm still laffing now about the bread switching. I also got a tiny bit drunk on the wine. I'm a classy gal. Anyway, I had a great time.

Spent all of Saturday shopping (including a visit with Bob Loblaw) and came home to finally finish watching Harry Potter with my mum. I think I will spend the day doing nothing and then doing a bit more of nothing... I love the weekend.::

::now that i'm pretty sure i don't have SARS (there were moments of doubt)...
I must have run myself ragged going out on weeknights that by the time Wendy's goodbye dinner rolled around on friday i was falling asleep at the table. that may have also been due to the chip wagon at beer cart. fries and gravy are so good... yet so bad.
christi's party on saturday was so fun. our dictator took control and the night ended up a melange of shuffleboard, darts, and "the game". it was a great time, especially seeing our lil TC.

work has been ok. for once it isn't taking over my life which is nice. i have a new favourite place to eat in the city. the special this week was a delicious stir fry. YUM!

i need to stop eating out so much. it's killing me! so is the cookie club at work. next week the cookie club is starting a detox. is that ironic?.::

::these are scary times. my only comment is that my heart goes out to everyone affected by the war.

i almost feel guilty going out and having drinks and spending time with friends with this kind of a global situation. At the same time, I want to be with the people most important to me.
Mel, Brandie and I introduced the girls to the Softchoice party at the Foggy Dew. Everyone turned into drunken fools (but me!) - it was funny to see colleagues in such a state, esp my manager. And impressive that everyone seemed so sobered up the next morning eating McD's.

Went to Al Frisco's for their fabulous drinks and snax on Tuesday and had a really really good time. It was hillarious walking miles to get to the same place we started but at least we build up a hearty appetite! Mmm... next time it will be happy hour : )
Sex and the City night revisited was paused for Bush's speach at Wendy's last night (we're not
that ignorant). I will miss that girl when she leaves for NYC. We ordered in Thai and sat around eating junk and critique-ing the S&C fashion. That show is the perfect girls night thing to watch. I absolutely love it.

on a less shallow note, I finally finished The Life of Pi. It was not what I expected at all. When I think back to before I read it and compare... it's like night and day. I really recommend reading it to anyone. It's sort of The Tao of Pooh meets Lord of the Flies. I really need to finish the other two books I was in the middle of now. After this weekend, I am planning on getting caught up on my R&R&R.

Yesterday was my first running lunch. It was also the windiest day of the year coincidentally. I made it a little past the Boulevard club along the lakeshore. Came back and refueled on the 'zah. Kirsten and I will make a second attempt today... wish us luck, i see storm clouds in the distance!

anyway, peace be with you all.::

::wow, i just had a coffe and it really hit me! since i've been off the caffeine the odd coffees affect me like speed. not that i know what speed feels like...

in addition to the normal stresses of being in a new position, last week was crazy. first off, it was wendy and mcoo's last days with softchoice so we had to say our goodbye's in the form of sushi, chilli, wine, chocolate and chips. good luck to them!
i met up with some of my gals for moroccan on tuesday and we had a great time playing "rumours"... great game which brought out a few skeletons in Shannon's closet. Rumour has it our waiter loved us and kept quacking because we ordered duck. What a fun littlel place.

This weekend took the cake. The girls loaded up in Tara's Astro Van and headed up to Ottawa for some pre-St. Paddy's fun. We stayed at Tanny's awesome house and went to a sugar bush and learned how the maple syrup is made.  We did a little pub crawl on Saturday night and are missing details on much of the night - unfortunately we had the video cam to remind us. Alas, the Beavertail machine was broken when we went there for breakfast, which was the only disappointment of the weekend. So sad.

I'm hoping to go into a bit of a detox. I may need to ask Christi for some tips. Happy St. Paddy's!::

::I was going to update several times last week but geocities is silly and didn't let me.

So the big commotion is that I got a promotion (yes I planned that sentence) as of today! Whee! It's pretty cool and I was a bit iffy at first wondering if it was the right direction I wanted to go in etc. The bottom line is that it's a nice step up from what i was previously doing and it's broadening my experience. Plus my title now has "manager" in it - yay! It calls for a cele-ma-bration (aka me cracking a bottle of reisling by myself with a good book).

This weekend was pretty bizzy. The weather was so great on Saturday so I went running for the first time since summer. I felt like Rocky Balboa. Maybe more Steven Segal: getting old but still pretending to have youthful energy. After a rendez vous in the Softchoice vicinity (there was a Roxy sale at the warehouse next door) Mel and I met up with the brown posse of Waterloo for Amisha's bday at Al Frisco's. The food was delish as it was the last time we went for Becky's bday. The bar was another story: geek/ cougar ville but the big round shag bed and the hookah made the place a lot cooler. Amisha took a lot of pics. Happy Bday girl! And big birthday wishes to Fuzzelli too.

I also got my CD player installed in Boogie. It's the best thing ever, especially when it lights up in the dark. I burned some kickin tunes for my drive to work this morning.

Well i am off to chow down on some sushi with the ladies::

::almost midnight and i can't sleep! its a far stretch from not being able to get out of bed to get my ass to work this morning.

things have been a whirlwind at work. i don't actually feel like writing about it at the moment because i don't really know how i feel about everything. i actually don't know how i feel about anything in life at all. people, jobs, friends, love... everything seems to be flitting in and out and its making me dizzy. there's this big part of me that just wants to leave everything and serve daiquiris (to myself) on a beach for the rest of my life. i think about the people on the islands i visited in greece and wonder how they got there.  i miss being on my bike and having to find the next campsite as my only responsibility. blah to me!
it's just that the stationary bike isn't the same. i really kicked it for my cardio today and i think the poor machine was the victim of the built up stress i was feeling. anyway, i feel great now.

ps: thanks for the gingerbread cookie c, you rock. i had a great time reminiscing of gaudi and barcelona with you yesterday at the exhibit and just hangin out::

::Went to see The Recruit on the weekend. Good eye candy but too bad Collin Farrel doesn't seem as hot once you see him in an interview. Turn off! Dinner was yummy too. I was such a chicken about walking outside but can you blame me with wind temperatures of -37?! Crazy. Did you ever wonder how much conversation would decrease if we were never allowed to talk about the weather? I'm guessing about 30%. And I wonder if people in warm non-seasonal countries say "beautiful day eh!" Deep thoughts by Lcho.

I also saw The Lion King on Saturday. It was sooo fantastic! I really loved how creative they were at creating the animals and the whole African theme and music was sublime.

I'm feeling pretty full today. Yet I still think I could manage another slice of 'zah. Mmm... just what the doctor ordered. Hey I got a new coffee mug today! Thanks Sonicwall! Am I rambling? Sorry.::

::it's been a rough week. I made it though and am feeling very relaxed today.

christi is back in town - welcome home! we went for dinner and also met up at gypsy co-op with some waterloo ppl. it was a good time, especially since i warmed up the blood at shoeless joe's after work. it was fun to hang out with the co-workers, aside from the ssd's i picked up from all them smokers! gross. gypsy was a good turnout of people that i was happy to see.
this morning christi and i had Lick's burgers for breakfast - wow were they tasty.

It was great seeing Goks at Fez last week despite the snowstorm. We still managed to dance up a storm (a snowstorm?) I got to crash at the Sheraton and order room service on mum and dad's tab. I throughly enjoyed the experience. Now I just wish I could show off my pretty toes from my pedicure. can't wait for flip flop season::
