So I began The Order of the Phoenix last night and fell asleep reading it. I feel much more refreshed and caught up on my zzzz's but I think I may have had some Harry Potter dreams! My dreams have been so weird lately as you may have heard from me. Perhaps it's all the turmoil and stress I've been under at work!
Regardless, I am really looking forward to reading more on the train home. I am pretty wiped out from my run today so I hope I make it through the day. kirsten and i need to hit up our cookie daddy in times like these - chocolate covered digestives! ::
::i am so exhausted from the weekend. getting out of bed shouldn't be so difficult, especially when its a nice sunny day so why am i having such a hard time? i think sleeping in A/C has a lot to do with it. I could too easily crawl back in and snuggle under the sheets right now.
Melly, Holly, Ashley and I headed up to the loo for Becky's pre-shower and invitation making. It was such a beautiful day so we headed up to Tom's place and did some swimming and tanning. Ashley and I decided to show off our pro tennis skills and ended up with blisters on our feet because it was so hot.
We stayed to help them finish their wedding invitations, which are sooo beautiful. Good job tom voll. It was a late night but i'm glad we could help.
Steve and I went to the Imperial Oil company picnic at Ontario place yesterday. Perfect weather and lots of good food made for a really great day. The sand got really hot, which is probably the only other reason our team lost at beach volleyball besides the fact that we sucked. Anyway, it was a long and tiring day and I am still feeling the effects of the sun today. sleeepyyyy...
Well people, just wanted to say hullo and welcome to summer :) ::
::just got back from the best walk with kman. had some interesting revelations that have changed my outlook on everything. i feel so much better after one of the worst weeks of my entire working career. I can't even put into words how valuable everyone has been to helping me overcome this stress. I just wanted to say thanks.
anyway, the weekend was such a nice getaway from work and work thoughts. saturday the weather started off so nicely so we took advantage and went running through the neighbourhood (got lost and argued over the proper passing techniques while running : ) so I felt great.
i then attended a family friend's wedding at appleby college. It was an ourdoor wedding and garden party. Very nicely set up aside from the soggy grass that my 4 inch heels kept piercing through. Some of the highlights were: the amazing weather, pro violin performance by an old childhood friend of the family, smoothie station, make your own wrap station, sushi station, bubbly with raspberries, hora (a jewish tradition)... I ended up having a great time with my moms.
yesterday my brother and I took pops out to a Jays game for fathers day. We got lucky with the best weather, great seats (lots of foul balls coming our way!) and our team won in the 10th with a home run! wooo! it was a great family weekend. I'm hoping to go to more games this summer. ::
::sigh.
my legs are hurting today. i went for a much needed run down by the lake after work yesterday. They were already sore from the softball game on sunday so they didn't get enough rest and repair. Not like I even cleared home base or anything but still, all that sprinting and no warming up can be hard. I had a great time though so thanks to Mike Kidd for organizing the whole thing.
Went to a work house warming party on Friday where everyone ended up outside on the front porch. A putting competition and chugging contests were all part and parcel of the evening and Erica narrowly escaped having to wear a pink bikini. Unfortunately Lior ended up in it instead but at least no one saw him put it on. Brandie and I had to cut out of the high school fun as we were falling asleep by 11pm. No more drinking so early for me.
Saturday was spent with my ma. I got my haircut and ended up watching old Audrey Hepburn movies all night. I had a bit of a headache and the rain wasn't making me feel any better but Audrey did!
Anyway, a start to the month, week, rest of life. Yesterday was one of the worst days at work ever so I hope today will be better ::
::owie. i'm aching from my yoga class last night. I ventured into the ashtanga level 1/2 (eek) class. it was great b/c i went in feeling all tense and came out feeling sooo relaxed it was almost dangerous driving home. this morning is another story - not quite as relaxed!
so what's up with this hot girls sub culture that goes to yoga? every girl that came to my class was beautiful. lean, healthy, not too makeupy... geez. Yeah so i was out of place :) Still, I busted out with the half crow position and everyone clapped which just killed me. So embarassing! whatever, i'm putting that on my resume.
We went to the best place ever for lunch today... aside from it being beside the slaughter house, I had one of the best sandwiches in my lifetime: Chicken with brie and roasted red peppers. MMM!
Not too much going on but we've been really lucky with the weather so it was nice to get out at lunch since the pressure has been really crazy at work. anyway, cheers to the weekend! ::
::happy memorial day y'all! The weekend turned out to be wayyy nicer than the weather people predicted, which worked out well for the bbq's on sat and today.
I spent Friday evening starting/finishing my book, which was not as excellent as previous Nick Bantock books I've read, but still really good.
I went for a run on Saturday and started thinking that at this time last year I was about to embark on the biggest challenge I have ever accomplished in my life, other than maybe university. It was crazy to think of all the experiences I have had in the span of a year: I biked across europe! I know a lot of people doubted whether they would ever see christi and I ever again but here I am back in the same ole. Like Jack Johnson says: "don't let your dreams be dreams." They can sometimes come true :)
Speaking of euope, we were all sitting around chatting about europe at shannon's bbq and it was so cool that we'd all been to the same places in the algarve, the same restaurants (Casa Rosa!), seen the same ancient ruins... Pretty cool. We headed out to the Maddy which was a good time as always. I ran into Cundill, who spilled beer all over me but I guess I'll forgive him as he is my boss.
It was pretty rough getting up this am since I'm an idiot and didn't get home til late last night but it was worth it cuz i had such a great day. I went to church, got rocked in mini putt, had the yummiest bbq, got taken for a spin in a porsche!!!, lost in a gruelling trivial pursuit game, ate mad cake, and now i'm feeling like I need to crash.

::wow, i fell asleep at 9pm last night! I think it was to catch up for the severe lack of sleep i got from the weekend. Victoria day didn't help as I went to check out the fireworks at the beaches. They turned out to be pretty good but they took forever to come on and let me tell you it was pretty chilly by the lake.
Work has been pretty blah. I went running yesterday and Kman and i got soaked to the bone! I looked like a drowned rat. I've also been eating pizza on a daily basis and I'm getting a touch sick of it, if that's possible. If I didn't run there's a possibility I'd be obese right now with all the pizza and timbits we've been bombarded with. And I won't even go into the caffeine thing. I've cheated a couple of times in the last 2 weeks but i've been soooo sleeepey in the mornings I can't help it!
i think tonight will be spent reading and resting. perhaps a little laundry is necessary. later dudes!::
::pheuf. i'm sleepy. i made the best of my short weekend and am back in the office today. happy victoria day everyone! Karen, you aren't the only one working while all of canada is partying!

I went up to Becky's farm this weekend for the farewell tanya party. Becky and I met up first and got caught up on things while stopping in at our favourite store =) We headed up to Becky's friend's cottage and played some frisbeer until it got dark and then made chocolate monkeys in the campfire while becky sand and played guitar.
Yesterday was very chilled out. After becky's parents made us THE breakfast of champions with their "just laid" fresh eggs we headed back to the loo for a little more frisbee. I headed back but unfortunately the bbq was cancelled due to a small family emergency so we just kicked it in the hammock and cleaned my car (more like steve cleaned my car and I played with brandon) :D
I'm exhausted this morn but on the plus side, there wasn't a car on the road!! Wheeee.... ::
::ola friends. still at work and my shoulders are all sore from this horrible position i'm sitting in. maybe also from the dragonboating of late. its been fun so far but i am starting to fear that our boat will tip. we are at full capacity and our steersperson is new. eek! oh well. so i'll grow a third arm from the lake ontario water - think how useful i could be!
friday night i dropped by harper's house goodbye lior party. cool house, reminds me of the waterloo days. didn't stay too long since i was driving and wasn't drinking.
saturday was a shopping day. checked out the yonge and eg area and then picked up some stuff for ma. i just chilled out and watched movies at night. girlie flicks :D
i cooked up a mother's day brunch yesterday and now i am full and tired and i really didn't even do too much. i did manage to see X2 which i loved. I want super powers. I would for sure pick mystique if i could be a xmen character, although the new guy nightshade is also tempting. I'm not picky! ::
::jack johnson makes me melt. have you heard the new cd? i can't even deal with how good it is. listening to his music makes me want to move to a grass hut on the ocean and surf and play in the sand all day drinking icy blender drinks.
anyway, waking up to reality work has been fairly stressful. our quota is ginormous and seems impossible to meet so morale is at a bit of a low. i went for a run at lunch today and i feel much better after my disaster of a morning. I don't know is sales is right for me if i get all sensitive when a customer yells at me.
still, some good news yet. i finally got my G license! Again! Wheee! It's about friggin time. I think it was because I had a really nice driver examiner. Did I mention he was cute? Anyway, those things are so damn fake. Looking at your blind spot 10 times, the over-exaggerated observation, mirror checks, and all that jazz. Come on, who drives like that?? ::yay ::
::yes, i've been an updating dink. it wasn't my fault b/c geocities sucks and kept telling me i had a java error and wouldn't let me open my homepage. java this!
yesterday i ran the sporting life 10K mini-marathon. i think my time was pretty good for a gal with short stumpies. The best incentive while running was this shorter, smaller girl who ran about a meter ahead of us the entire race... until the last kilometer where we kicked it into high gear. I ended up crossing the finish line at 59 mins but since we started about 2 mins after the gun went off (behind the sea of people) it may have been less. whatev. i am just proud that i even finished! it was the coolest thing to see yonge st closed off to over 5,000 people of every age, size and form.
saturday was spent shopping and then dining at the Lord Nelson's steak house - what better way to prepare for the big race the night before than with a big juicy steak? No carb loading there. and triple chocolate bday cake on top of that was probably the only reason I ran so fast the next day. blehh. my sloth days are not over yet.
