Lately I wonder what I must look like coming into work. Unless "You look like Yoda" was meant to be a compliment... Then again I was told I looked like this slick Gen13 (??) cartoon character... but only cuz of the red streaks in my hair. which are rapidly fading into a washed out yellow. Not a pretty picture.

I spent the whole of Superbowl Sunday at Chapters reading Harry Potter. Laugh if you will, it's definitely geared to the juvenile mine (perfect for me I guess) but oh so stimulating for the imagination. I loved it. My brain needed a rest from Dickens, Dostoyevski, and databases after all.

Ingrid and I had a good old nostalgia session yesterday. At work too, complete with a musical score. I've been missing old times a lot these days and I don't know why. I miss my fuzzy buzzy too. And my Juli.

Ahh.. no time for reminiscing. I have a meeting in 10 minutes!

Hmm, I'm confused. But I suppose you're all thinking that's nothing new. But I had a conversation (one of our many deep thoughts about the strange and obscure) with Tanya about how girls and boys are even the same species. I'm surprised we can even mate we're so different...  don't worry, this isn't my plug for lesbianism or anything. Although I did go on a date with Rachel last week... (BUTCHY girl pays - Rach this ones on you?) ha ha..

*We* rented 'The Cell' on Friday because wall climbing was just too expensive. $45 per person? Seriously now...  The Cell was good but I can't believe someone - although I don't remember who, you know who you are... - said that it was like The Matrix only 100X better! Yes Vince Vaughn is sexy but I really didn't like Lopez in that role at all. Picture 'Selena does Silence of the Lambs'... yeah

Yesterday was a beautiful day. Went boarding. I'm finally starting to nail the carve although it certainly has its way of nailing me back... in the face. But it was sunny, the snow wasn't too icy... beautiful. Didn't do too much last night, I decided against the rave. I don't think I'm ready for that right now, or ever perhaps. The co-ops went to Helium, probably a good time (Happy Bday Hersh) but I was too tired and not the dancing queen last night.

I'm excited to go to Ottawa next weekend for Winterlude. And to see MEL! Oh yes,
Amisha, beautiful page! Love the Miro background... what a cutie! Better go, church calls. I'm going to see a play this aft. at the Living Arts Center with mumsy. Hope its good! Ciao fat cow!

Hello weekend! Sheesh, was I really that brutal with updating this page this week? Or did this week just fly by? Well, this is probably a really bad idea because I'm doing this at work but oh well. Wall climbing plans are in limbo. Really more expensive than we thought so it might just be a night of rented movies.

This week was a bit of a drunken blur. I came in twice to work hung over and the funny thing is that I was on time, clean, no headache, got my work done... (which is opposite from when I'm not hung over at work?) The week in summary:

Went to Waterloo twice, got drunk both times. I think I'm going to take a break from drinking for a little while. Saw Snatch... soooo funny. I really liked the movie and that's not a biased opinion b/c I like Brad Pitt. Slept all Thursday night from when I got home from work til this morning. Best sleep all year. Today's been really busy at work. Rushing around everywhere! Went for lunch too with Rach, Steve and Keith. It was actually quite good. Not quite Sushi but a good second choice. Anyway, must go. Work calls. Got tons to do before my ma comes to pick me up!

Bye bye weekend! I wonder if Nicola's dad would mind if I moved in... to their hot tub... That was pretty much all I did this weekend, go to Nic's. I also went to
Ikea on Saturday. And I don't care what Fight Club says, despite it being one of my fave movies ever, Ikea has wicked and cheap stuff. That and I'm a sucker for useless things (yellow measuring spoons?). Cept that someone has to fix that stupid parking lot! It's soooo busy there.

We ate so much food at Nic's place too thanks to Foxy. And drank lots too. In short, it was indulgence at its worst. I can't believe how cold it was, any exposed part not submerged in the tub froze in about 0.2 seconds. Which was even less reason for Nick to cut his body up trying to roll in the snow (or month old crusty ice actually). This morning Christi and I had our snowboard plans shattered to bits, waking up at the crack of dawn to go boarding - only the weather was freezing and the hills would've been icy. Disappointing. Very.

Debate of the week: Is my hair pink or red? (Please say red, pink irritates me to no end!)

It was good to see my Becky perform Thursday night at Graffity. Very cool open mike venue; they had Saxophone, Drums, lots of talented geetar... good times... Too bad I had to get the most ridiculous ticket on the way home. Ok, that stupid intersection at Bathurst and Queens Quay has got to be the 8th wonder of the world how anyone figures it out. So yeah, the $220 will set me back a few purchases. And for the record, Collin has quite THE nice apartment on the lake. We played a bit of tag because he tried to meet me in the lobby and I tried to meet him at the apartment, then we would go looking for each other only just to miss each other... just picturing Jenny's poor gimped boyfriend on crutches running after me cracks me up! I finished my book on Thursday too, when I got home from Graffity. The book was good but I liked the first one better. This one left me hanging and I hate that!

Work has been pretty good. I have lots of time-constrained projects going on but it keeps me busy. And its been decided that I'll be here for the whole term. Yesterday was madness on the MSN messenger scene. Karen, Amisha, Eric in a big 'chat', and then Scottie from rafting messaged me whom I haven't heard from in a long long time. Nice little break from work. No crazy meetings this week, thank goodness. How people get any work done with so many meetings is beyond me!

Its Chinese New Year next week - Year of the Snake. I know this because I've eaten more Chinese food than I have in the last year this week. The coops went to the Mandarin. Hello 10 pounds! Then had a billion course meal with the family at Good Luck. .  Next week, my mission is to attack the Sushi joints in town...
January 15, 2001 (2 mins later)
I logged all the way back into this just to say: don't listen to Ingrid... Things are nowhere near heating up, as much as I would like them to be... cold as ice I tell you...
January 15, 2001

Ok, I'm a lazy ass. I haven't updated this in a few days and would not have today if it weren't for Ingrid waking me up! That's a good thing. Going to bed straight after work on a full stomach is prolly not healthy anyway. The weekend... THE WEEKEND??!! ha ha... Well Friday, I was planning to stay in and just read but then Djen and I went to see these bands and some art exhibits at his school.  All in all it was pretty good.
Sat. I headed up to the LOO. I loved every minute of it. We just hung out in downtown area since the snow conditions sucked. We saw Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon at the Princess, speaking of which just got NEW SEATS that are fantastically comfy. Wow, the movie reminded me of my childhood days watching kung fu movies in Singapore. Everyone thinks those flying scenes are hokie but to me their tradition! It was excellent. Then we dined at Maharaja's Palace, good to see Holly again! Yum. Although Indian mixed with the beer the ensued probably made for disgusting breath. Good thing I don't have to worry about any close encounters with boys these days!
Matt's party was good. I played Tony Hawk for the first time - never realized how good I am at pressing random buttons that do hard tricks. But lets face it, I'm not cut out for video games. As much as the "fun" was just beginning, Tanya and I couldn't spend a wkend in the Loo w/o the good ole bomber. I was such a drunken case by the time I got there (that's only 4 beers too, how sad...) but it was a good time. This guy did the best "pushing a shopping cart" dance move on the stage that made us howl. Oh I love the bomber.
Sunday was bad. Church with a hangover is not fun. Do you think that's kind of sacreligious? Sorry God. Slept that hangover off, then had my first web meeting! Special mention to my group - The next spice girls! he he...
Yeah. It was a pretty good wkend. Back to the grind...
Work today was good tho, I finally got SQL server installed without crashing and installed Office 10. It's pretty cool I must say! But enough with the nerd lingo...
ps. I promise I'll archive this nonsense next time...
January 12, 2001

Hit up the Peel pub tonight. I love that place. It was good to see my fellow Waterloo-sers... ha ha. Mel brought pics of Mexico. I'm so jealous! And Voytek emailed me about his Christmas skiing in france. All this just makes me antsy. I've got to get out of here. I'm glad I actually left my home tonight though, after the longest day of meeting after meeting. Although on the email scene, the coops all sent around those email questionnaire things so that we could  find out about each other. It was pretty funny and interesting to see all the different kindz...
I've basically been holed up at home after work for the last few days, doing nothing but read. I've been into this Tom Robbins book and I can't put it down. Eclectic is the only way to describe his books but I absolutely love them. I've only read
Jitterbug Perfume of his before this one but I'd recommend it to anyone. Although not everyone is weird like me. I dunno, it looks at life and issues in this non-serious, yet serious perspective.
It's going to be a jeans day tomorrow for sure. The whole company wears jeans every day of the week so I don't see why I shouldn't. We had a competitive markets presentation today and the Director of Marketing sat on the carpet and ate her muffin and made comments the whole time while the rest of the people in the presentation theatre sat on chairs in rows. Very laid back. and i lub it.
January 9, 2001
Finally spoke to Jen and Ingi yesterday after such a long drought. Man do I ever miss those two. Not much to say, 'cept that I'm being quickly sucked into the working world. I still don't understand why sitting on our fat seats all day moving nothing but my index finger to click on a mouse makes me so tired. And worse than that is that it makes me hungry. My finger must use up a lot of energy  clicking because man have I been eating. And the food at the "Bytes" cafe (yes I agree, fromage extroardinaire), the cafeteria at work is pretty good.

Anyway that's all I had to say. Got to bust it... I'm updating this on my work computer on dialup
January 7, 2001
I attended my first baby shower today! eek. symbolism for that 20 something crowd that goes to The Big Easy after work and drinks martinis and cosmopolitans? Well heck no, I won't go. I vow to be a kid for at least another ... well forever. But Karen certainly cleaned up in the baby dept at Sears. Her house looked like a baby store: playpens, strollers, diaper machines (baby technology is UNREAL..times have a-changed man!)... And how weird to rub your best friend from high school's big belly!
Yesterday I went to the AGO to see the Matisse exhibit. (more old age symbolism?!?) Aside from a couple of good pieces, it wasn't anything special. I still prefer stuff in "The Salon"; those pieces always blow me away. Then we toured Queen St. and ate healthy food at Juice for Life. Good to know that we stopped at Second Cup about 5 times. I actually asked why they used styrofoam (we used mugs - not to worry) and got a nice run-around type answer. The guy told me that paper cups are made from recycled materials anyway and can't be further recycled, and that the styrofoam are actually more expensive but they alter the taste of the coffee. Thanks for answering my Q big-guy. So here's my message of the day to the world: Bring a frickin' mug! After our 8th trip to second cup and to the candyshack (mmm..gumballs - barf) we watched trainspotting at Becky's.

I guess Craig wasn't alone in his Chapters craving. I dropped in on Friday night only to find out that they changed their store hours. Now it closes at 10pm (formerly 12 or 1am), too bad I showed up at 9:30... I still got a book, not the one I wanted but close enough. Yeah, Friday was a quiet night for alone time with my books. I actually got a module done for my distance ed course. Am I keen or what! But it actually was a breeze. I think I'm going to like this web based course. Well, its back to work tomorrow morning. My second week and I already have a million meetings. This sucks. What happened to that little girl named Luen? The past few days have just proved that I'm a 20-something cheezeball that frequents art galleries, cafes, trendy bookstores, even trendier juice bars who works amongst a bunch of suits in an office that speaks "buzz". Someone shoot me! I'll make it up next weekend. And Tanya and I have a plan that will blow all this nonsense away.
January 4, 2001

I must say that I'm not hating work as much as I thought I would. Don't get me wrong, I'm pretty clueless right now but at least my "pretend" skills are well honed, especially considering I'm supposed to give a presentation next week to train people... how do I get cohersed into these situations? Ah well. Good to see a familiar face at our orientation; too bad Mr. Tchao will be joining the bourgeoisie downtown at our MSN office.
Oh yes, happy new year! I had the
mellowest new year's eve ever and loved it. The skiing (yes again, so that makes 3 times since Christmas) completely knocked me out and I slept probably more than I slept for the month of december. Which is probably why I'm still up now and have to get up for work at the crack of dawn.
Went to Gypsy Co-op tonight for some toonz and
beer. It was sooo tasty. I haven't had a beer since LAST YEAR and it soooo hit the spot. Ok so last year was only a few days ago leave me alone. But I barely got a break and I'm sick of work already. And too bad my computer screen stares my boss in the face so I feel really bad doing my distance ed course with him watching. But Peter is so cool so it's all good. The funny thing is, he mentioned that Eric looked familiar to him and that he may have interviewed him before. So I confirmed that yes, he did interview Eric as well as a whole slew of SciBizzers and I think it weirded him out.
I wish someone would email me at work too cuz I'm bored... someone else must have started work by now... please? Craig? Karen? Ingrid? Tanya? Becky? Mel? Jen? Dave? Marie? YOU CANNOT ALL STILL BE ON
VACATION!!! It isn't fair...  Never mind tho, I don't plan to stick around the home myself... Especially if my family keeps squabbling over absolutely nothing all the time.
The big question is how I am going to make it through these months of office hell when its only been a couple of days and I'm alredy so antsy? Maybe when I get my first paycheck I'll feel better... oh wait... AMEX bill awaits...
Yeah, speaking of acronyms... heres a typical day at work for me: Can you FWD the MBA, ONS, MSDN, and LN using PENS ASAP? And CC: HRD on that...they're OOF.
AHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!! (And no, the last one is NOT an acronym)
