::getting in touch with my (hollywood) film and lit side.

after braving the mosh pit (aka sherway gardens) on boxing day with my family and sharifa we feasted on seafood and hung out at chapters. I found me a new book for my commute! i've been so tired lately that after work (being the only person in the universe who is not on vacation) all I want to do is watch DVDs. I've watched: The Others, Scooby Doo, 40 Days and 40 Nights (..again - LOVE that movie : ), Slackers, Bridget Jones Diary, and Oceans 11. The ones I've seen before just happened to be on TMN so I couldn't resist.

The health diet starts on Monday (I couldn't resist the beer cart)::

::merry christmas! happy birthday! soooo tired... just got back from family ski trip (we missed u choo). some classic scenes: the jeans skiier, the trail hog (who's going slower than you but won't let you pass), and the cute kids learning to ski.
I am going on a serious health food diet starting tomorrow. the food and chocolate consumption is getting out of hand! our potluck at work was SO HUGE. mel's sex in a pan was too good to resist so i just kept eating. gross.

got awesome prezents and spent some good quality time with my favourite people. have a holly jolly christmas!
ps: i finally finished tale of two ciites (after 5 years) - good strong ending.. now i need a new book! ::

::its funny how i look forward to christmas every year but its not even a big deal anymore. maybe everyone feels this way b/c we're getting older but i'd say that christmas is the loneliest time of the year for me, especially in the last two years. i guess having all my loved ones in a different country makes things less hectic but it would be so nice to celebrate the holidays together.

::Looking forward to an evening of television and sleep and puttering around the house. I would really like to help Mel Adams celebrate being done exams but I'm really too sleepy to go out again. It's the kind of weather I want to curl up in.
At work, we helped wrap presents for the children's christmas party so they bought us swiss chalet again! Karen, I was going to send you my dinner but I thought the gravy might not make it : (

::I feel better today. Mel, Brandie and I went out for dinner and drinx at Wayne Gretzky's last night and laughed up a storm. Especially when Erica got there. My girls are too funny. Had to cut out on Second City tho since I was informed at the last minute that our team potluck was moved to tonight. So I came home half in the bag and had a really good phone conversation... Anyway, I didn't end up going to sleep til after 1am making my dessert for the potluck. I ended up making a cheesecake since the store didn't have tiramisu ingredients! grrr....::

::I hope i'm not getting sick. I slept all of Sunday away and finally dragged myself out of bed at 6pm, and I'm talking deep REM sleep til 6. Then to get some fresh air my mum and I hit the show. We saw Die Another Day, which we really liked despite prior warnings about how fake the movie was going to be (and fake it was). When we got out it looked like we were in a snow globe. It was really pretty.

Shannon's was fun on Saturday night. Lots of people were there from school that I haven't seen in a while and we broke out an old school version of Trivial Pursuit. I think it was from 1981 or something so no one really knew the answers to anything.

Currently feeling kind of sad, kind of stupid and kind of confused. ::

::yesterday i got into work and the first email i got was from my supervisor re: buying our pod swiss chalet for lunch - sweet... then today we got chili on the company... and tomorrow there is a massage therapist and beer cart... is this for real? I can't say it's been easy trying to learn licensing for every software product on the market but they do give sweet incentives.

life is currently being consumed by work and then unwinding after work. mel and i tried to find some good candy close to softchoice but were unsuccessful. we did, however, find some time bites - HA! anyway, that's really all that's going on right now. oh yeah, and i put up a few pics.

::Phew; real work is really draining! And I haven't even put a dent into my month-long training and certification. Oh well, everyone has been so amazing and friendly so I can't complain at all. Esp since I was late on my first day...
I won't re-hash all the boring details of my boring product and system training but just say that I have a helluva lot to learn! On the plus side, I won cash money ($5) at our morning mindshare for figuring out how the post it note pad pops up... And while Mel and I don't really work together we still get to see each others' faces! Speaking of our faces, we ended up in so many xmas party pictures - hahaha... I'll hafa grab them and post them.

man, i dunno why i'm so dang hungry. they should offer "hunger management" in university since everyone has this problem don't they? aside from those weird ppl who forget to eat meals and don't like chocolate and such.

i'm getting excited for xmas.. especially for all you outta town visitors! (no comments becky : ) ::

::Went by YabuPushelberg (what a great studio!) to visit my bro on friday then hung out and shopped on Queen. I am now the proud owner of a new winter jacket! What to do when CM has 40% off everything in the store? Besides, its a xmas gift to me so it doesn't really count as shopping. After helping Reefa move we checked out the art show at El Mocambo but didn't even stay because we were too tired. It was nice to spend some quality sibling time.

The Softchoice xmas party was loads of fun. It was a very different "first day at work" than any other I've ever had. There were all these food stations for different cuisines from around the world: Asian, Mexican, Italian etc. Mel and I just had to try them all, and then some. We then proceeded to fill ourselves with spiked mango & banana smoothies and cut some rug on the dance floor. I boogied with all the people I had just interviewed with a week prior and even got to air guitar with the president! It all broke loose later when everyone was fully intoxicated and the breakdancing started.

Anyway, my taxi pulled in past 3am and I somehow managed to get up this morn to bake and head up to waterloo hungover for our secret santee xchg with my gals. We had a great brunch at the Heuther and checked out Bowling for Columbine at the princess - what an interesting documentary. It made me sad to think of all the shizzle that gets covered up and swept under the rug and how much more we are yet unaware of.

Must go to bed now. Wouldn't want to be late for my first day of work tomorrow... (eek!) ::

::I was reading this article called Sex in America. It was in the Razor Magazine that came with this month's marketing magazine at work. This article was based on a survey taken of men and women in New York and it was pretty funny to see what's on people's minds these days. If you pass by it at a newsstand, just read the columns. Funny (but explicit)!
Anyway, today was my last day at Blazing... sniffles all around. They got me this crazy brownie, caramel cheesecake - oh my. I was still full from the seafood dinner last night but how could I resist? And everyone felt like giving me dating and marriage advice today. Even worse, Tamar and Andria were trying to set me up with some designer "Darong" that works across the hall who had asked about me - HA! Thanks but no thanks. Tom sez he's "Darong guy"... ouch.

So does anyone wanna come with me to the Blazing Christmas party? I'd ask mel (since I'm going as her date) but I think that might raise more than an eyebrow. Oh well, one Christmas party is enough. Besides, I haven't a thing to wear... (K, maybe you can be my date and we can both wear your new dresses :D )

::I caught up on some much needed sleep this weekend; a nice change from my insomniac ways. I think I reached that crash and burn state after many sleepless nights. I guess i'm also at a point in life where there's not much to do but wait and see.
It's been nice to chat with Ingi, Karen (F!F!S!), Tanny, Mel, Ashley, Kristian, Kay. It's amazing how many wonderful words friends can spurn each and every time I feel pooey. I know my website can get boring and fickle and I apologize for my lack of intelligent content but here's my bit of cheese for the month. Please refer to Etch or C. for higher learnings.

I'm yearning to get out on the mountains with this influx of cold weather and am tres envious of etch and smith in tremblant. You guys, A-gok, and slomka will always be my boarding buddies!
I miss my biking buddy who's karaoking it up in korea.
I miss the school days when classes were optional and friends were not.
I miss the high paying co-op job days.
I miss lots of things. But here's to the future : ) ::
