December 30, 2000 Well, Steve and I decided it's the last time we ski/board in Ontario. Today was quite the mental and physical challenge. I spent a full day (a friday, right before new years) at work doing major marketing analysis and taking in all the new projects that I will be responsible for. Keeping up with acronym hell at work is alone a strain to anyone's brain. Then went night boarding at good ole Glen Eden. Tried out my newly adjusted board, and ended up on my face and taking out other faces in the process. If my ski partner never speaks to me again, it will not come as a shock. In fact, I am pretty much expecting to never hear from him again.. And if anyone is planning to see "Unbreakable", make other plans. What a cheezeball movie. The whole superhero thing really didn't go over well with me. I hate Bruce Willis in any drama role. And I don't like Samuel L. either other than Pulp Fiction. Talk about over-dramaticism. Ah well. hmm..I've been trying to avoid telling people about my newfound job placement (as I broadcast this on the world wide web...). I wouldn't use the word embarassed really, more like i'm trying to avoid being oohed and ahhed by people - and believe me people (esp. at our parents age) actually do that and its embarassing. Its like they're shocked that little ole me could get a job. So goes one conversation of my averting techniques : Annoying Pryer: So what are you doing now, are you in school or working? L: I'm actually working. AP: Where? L: I'm really lucky, I found a job right here in Mississauga about 5 mins from my parents place. AP: WHERE in Mississauga? L: Oh.. just off Matheson... - look, an elephant ( pointing to nothing)!!!! AP: I mean for WHAT COMPANY? L: Oh, a computer company... AP: What computer company, I might know the name... L: Err... Microsoft, maybe you've heard of them...?? (aka: ENOUGH ALREADY!) Other than that, I still don't have plans for New Years. I wanted to ski but I don't think it will happen. Maybe I'll just have some hot tea and hop under my covers with a good book as the world counts it down to 2001.

December 26, 2000 Ahh boxing day. The day where everyone rushes to the stores, and Luen rushes in the other direction. Unless I succumb to the madness in an attempt to find me some glasses. I broke my old ones, which is good because I just wanted a new pair anyway. The tape I put on them isn't quite cutting it cuz they're seriously lopsided. Christmas was good. Midnight mass, up all night with the family... I swear as Djen and I get older, we're starting to becomes friends with our parents... yikes! Djen and I went snowboarding yesterday. It was sweet riding, no crowds, good snow, except that Horseshoe has these shitty flat parts that require unnecessary skating - badly designed if you ask me. And I really hate to be that annoying "back in BC..." person but its tough making the transition without some comparison. If I can take on those black diamond runs then either I'm a snowboarding prodigy, or their runs are just easy. And Djen is amazing! Anyway, last night we went to Bauhouse. It was alright aside from the DJ mucking up all the good tunes. He pulled so many bad moves; bad sound distortion, and making fools of everyone by throwing in a mix, getting everyone grooving, then stopping mid-air so everyone stands around in silence frozen in some dumb dance move. Pretty funny actually. Got hit on by a group of stallions - this guys tries to kiss my hand with an unlit cigarette in his mouth so I crushed his smoke - hahaha! Then he got mad at me for bending the thing! Drunken fools... The night was good entertainment if anything. The baking continues today. The banana blueberry sour cream bread turned out well. Perhaps I will try adding chocolate chips in it...

December 24, 2000 Could it be? It's Christmas Eve. I did the most bang up job for gift shopping this year. Done in 3 hours. Which sucks b/c I ended up spending way more than necessary just to get it over with; AMEX is melting. It was all about strategy because there's nothing I find more irritating than the mall at this time of the year. I got to Sherway at 9pm on Friday night and shopped til close, then for an hour this morning. Like I mentioned, this is the first year I haven't had a boy to buy for (prolly why i was done so fast). So with all that extra cash I saved, I bought myself a good, classic hoochie item... beige pleather skirt baby! - I wore it to the family christmas party tonight with my tall hoochie boots... haha, that should get those family friends whispering. Ah well, my mum was the one who made me buy it. No more shopping for me until next christmas. I'm spending my money more wisely next year... like, on beer. Tomorrow, the oven is at my every whim. I'm baking up a storm; chocolate banana bread pudding, chocolate brownie shortbread, and cookies. Good thing I only bake for other people or I wouldn't fit out my front door. What am I talking about, I end up eating half the recipe as I go anyway. I'm beginning to ramble. So to everyone out there... Merry Christmas! (not very "PC" i know, but suck it up, I'm catholic) And if you're in the neighbourhood, stop by and you might just get some puding/shortbread/cookies...! I'll end with a message from The Top 16 Worst Fortune Cookies: "Creative Chinese chefs without utensils can still find ways to stir the soup." and another, "Life is short, take time to stop and smell..."

December 22, 2000 WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO HOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Here marks the end of 3B. Another night, another lack of sleep. And not even cuz I was studying. A colourful night it was - I experienced being a smurf with finger paint! But today I move home. I will be glad to leave that dump of a house. Ha ha, the landlords were showing the house only to find the Dimension Man hanging "erect" in Mike's room. It's going to be mad shopping from now til ... tomorrow. The joys of not having to buy for boyfriends... Roomies: it was an amazing term - i love u's lots. We'll party it up next term - road trips ho! Mel, Ingrid, we'll be visiting! Good luck out there in the vast corners of ... Canada! To waterloo, i say "goodnight"... for now.

December 19, 2000 Oh but why must I be a chronic insomniac? Now I feel bad for kicking people out of the living room for talking loud because I can't sleep anyway. So that's the reasoning behind my consecutive update. Because all I've done since I last typed something is spend more time with my boyfriend Davis... Davis Center. For the record, I have tried to shake that bastard but he's darned persistent. Onto other interesting news, if anyone's interested in skiing or boarding this week you're welcome to... ON MY CHIN! I have a zit there that kicks chicopee's ass! Gotta love exam time. It just makes people pale, pimply, and FAT. And to expand on that point (pun intended), I ate mcdonalds a few mins ago (thanx Tan!). i haven't eaten meat in about 5 years - possibly another reason why i can't sleep. I hate how everyone else is done exams. We just watched Run Lola Run, which was a swell movie but really, now it's 2AM and... I HAVE AN EXAM TOMORROW! ah well. even that doesn't phase me anymore.

December 18, 2000 I miss the bomber and SLC already... I can't believe I'm going to ... mississauga in 5 days. i've decided to spend every weekend on a mountain. or hill. or chicopee... somewhere, I don't care. so all you people that are leaving, expect me on your doorstep any given friday evening this winter term.

December 15, 2000 The purolator person knocked so early this morning with the work package...and again 5 min later to drop off Tanya's package! Sheesh. The Silver Spur was pretty fun last night. Except now I'm all sad and stuff, you single girls are all selling out on me. I mean, I should be so happy right? What kind of friend am I anyway...? Yaaay Tanya! Anyhoo, another night another injury. This time I was the human pinata! Actually props to Erica with the real skateboard pinata though - very cool! Last night was the dawning of 8 months away from the same ole same ole... Karen, Ingrid, Mel... everyone's skipping town. And not just for holidays too - this is long term. But there's a chosen few who are keeping it real and local next term so we'll have to make do. I'm getting so sick of DC, come the 21st, I vow not to set foot in it for 8 months straight. although it brings some good looking surprises every now and then...like "marco polo" today - RRRR! yeow! he's hands down the best looking guy i've ever seen. sigh... all the good ones are taken... its final - i'm going to be one of those old ladies with cats... ps: nice webpage ingi! and karen's pix from halloween... heh...next year playboy bunnies? [i'm so funny]

December 10, 2000 Scanned pictures of bowling and the play among other things. We had way too much fun with Mike's scanner when he was out... oh the things technology can capture (thanx mike!). From what it sounded like, the whole SciBus program could be retaking Corporate Finance if he doesn't bell that. Oh well. But that really blows because now I have no motivation to study. And I was doing so well. And tonight is a write off too. Xmas party with the Philthy's girls - I should really be studying. And I don't believe that some people will be done exams on Tuesday. I've come to the conclusion that with each passing day, I'm becoming more and more of a cheezeball. What happened to me? I used to be so tuff and stuff. Oh well, probably comes with age. Next thing I'll be listening to adult contemporary CHYME FM blehhhhhhh. I wonder if they'll ever play today's R&B, Dance, and alternative on those oldies stations when we're old. Or do we keep listening to the same stations and the younger generations just get new stations... I don't know but that's taking up too much brain space so I have to stop thinking about it.

December 6, 2000 Tip of the Day: yay Safety Van My first Baudelaire book. I'm ecstatic - that was the sweetest gesture ever! There might be something wrong with me; today I went to the library to take a reading break from... reading at the other library... but it was completely different reading so quite understandable. Not much to say right now. Sauf que je suis en train d'ecrire un oeuvre en francais. Quelque chose court dans mon temps libres. Anyway, enuf o' that. I don't know how I will be able to make it for 2 more weeks studying 14 hours a day like this. Especially since everyone else will be gone by next week - who will I play handball with in the SLC? Or frisbee for that matter? DC was so cold I think I got hypothermia today if not for me and Dave's 8 trips to get hot chocolate. THROW US A FRICKIN' BONE HERE... I'm convinced - its a Tim Hortons conspiracy turning on AC on the coldest days of winter to boost business. And I'm the sucker who's falling for it. I don't think I will leave my bed all day tomorrow. PS: Congrats to mum and ingrid! And to Mel - those are the best pictures (I think i want to scan them).

December 3, 2000 Every time I write an exam, I am reminded of how much we resemble cattle. I'm surprised we don't have our ID's branded to our flanks. Standing there in herds waiting to be let into a big room only to have our brains under analysis to see who can score the highest grade. Well I'm glad I'm paying for it that's for sure! Anyway, the Rude Native was amazing (as usual). Bananas in phyllo rock my world. And a pitcher of sangria... mmm. I've also decided that bowling is one of the funnest thing to do. Every time I go I wonder why I don't do it more often. I mean, it would even be fun if we weren't tanked. Now that I think about it, it almost seems dangerous... drunk people, big heavy balls, waxy floors... but we all got out of there unharmed on Friday. Its all a bit of a blur but somehow there were bowling shoes in my room today (Margo?). And what about me stuffing an 8 in. snake in my mouth...?? I guess we were trying to steal gummys from 7-11 without getting busted by the guy or the camera. Not an easy task let me tell you. Ahh, gummy snakes and teeth... It was good to be home for a change of scenery, not to mention bday dinner and presents. Got pictures dvlped too. Happy Bday Dad!
