::the long weekend! I've been slow on the updates. Firstly I have yet to give a huge thanks to
James for the Jays tickets :) I figured the Blue Light ladies at the hotel would thank you on my behalf. I had a good time seeing Goks after so long and discovered that Blair is stalking people via their blogs.

Secondly: Becky and Tom are MARRIED! Congratulations to two former roommates and great lifelong friends. I had a great time and shed a tear for the occasion. The Blues song that I did with "Hots and the Gang" worked out well and the rap that Pat Mirtha and Fobel did was hillarious. Don't worry Tanny we got most of it on vid for you.

Not much else is going on. I don't have plans for the weekend and will revel in doing nada.

I've also been thinking about snobbery lately. There are different kinds of snobs in this world: the old, material snobs, and what I call the new snob. I can't decide who is more annoying. We all know how to characterize the regular snobs: I'm rich, I pretend I'm rich, etc. Then there are the snob snobs who are snobby towards the regular snobs and are too cool for popular music, too good to buy brand names, too cool to work at a large corporation... you know the type.

I have to admit I've been through many stages in life where I felt angst towards "the corporation" and "all things played out". I've come to accept POP and I have realized that am not so unique that I can't like what other people like. Justin Timberlake makes good tunes. The GAP makes decent, cheap clothing. The Honda Civic is a very economical car. I

Anyway, I think what spawned this whole thought was a conversation I had recently with both of the above snobs and I found myself very amused.

Gotta go. Have a funtastic weekend everyone! ::

::hola. I've been a bit AWOL lately. I took a few days to get away from the city just as the blackout hit. Perfect timing really. A few amigos went up to Algonquin park for a
portage trip which I can describe as both extreme as well as relaxing. The extreme part of it was purely physical; the route we took was much more difficult than my ego could ever admit. We paddled far and wide up in the great north (of ontario) against raging winds and bloodthirsty skeeters. By Saturday night, our poor muscles were so sore and we were all pretty dehydrated. The lake water just sketchy at best. It was much like an episode of the Amazing Race.

I'm making it out to be a nightmare but Sunday made up for everything. Calm, no wind, sunny, and beautiful picnic spots all day. We ate, drank, swam, and had a merry ole time. Mentally, it was very nice to be away from the city and think of nothing but nature. I had a really good time and I'm glad I got away. Hopefully I didn't pick up a parasite or west nile because of it.

I know I missed a lot of jams and get togethers this weekend and I feel bad for the people I would have liked to spend time with. At the same time, if you're important to me I know I will see you again soon and I needed this weekend to get away more than drinking, bars, and the city. My sincere apologies and regrets friends:
Happy Belated to Ingrid, Aneil.
All the best to Brandie-Jo and Ashley in your future locations and endeavors.
And sorry I missed Ed's island party. I heard it was IRIE!

Things are pretty much back to normal now. I'm back to reality and the power is mostly restored. I hope everyone is being good boys and girls and conserving! ::

::judgement day?
i'm sitting here in the semi-lit office while the whole region is
blacked out. I actually think its ridiculous that we have this backup power supply while I bet there are hospitals and important places that are out of power. Ok, maybe not, but its a crazy thot that software is that important. I'd love to go home and have a cold drink if it weren't for the lack of traffic control or refrigeration. Gasp - the chili!

On a similar note, I was in the vendor mindshare the other day and they were telling us about their 24 hour massive testing facilities for their printers. Am I the only one who thinks that this 3 bajillion dollar investment is a waste? Yes, I know they are a giant international conglomerate that makes that money over and quality is so important but think of the starving children! I obviously don't know enough about anything in general but the thought of how much money goes into uselessness makes me sad.

Anyway, guilt is eating away at me so I'm logging out but I hope this ridiculousness is over soon. I just wanna go home. We want power! We want power! We want power!... :

::another weekend away... sigh. i miss the chilled out weekend where no driving, moving, or travelling. I also miss sex and the city (the show that is - muahahaha). finishing season 4 was the biggest let down just because I can't watch season 5 now. i'm addicted!

anyway, I had a great time at kirsten's wedding this weekend. that's wedding 3 of 6 this summer. eek! how horrible is that? i guess they don't seem as bad when they are your friends. or is it they seem worse because another one bit the dust? I'm a walking contradiction.
I was saying, kirsten had this beautiful intimate outdoor wedding up at her cottage. We chowed down on the thai theme dinner, danced our faces off and were at one with nature. The bugs still haven't given up on me! damn skeeters. camping will be ugly. I am thinking of going all out with a full bug suit. Laff if you will but i will show them!

well i need to get the hizzle outta here. its been a long day and i didn't even have time to get away for lunch. I also need to get some fooood! Night kids. I swear I'm posting pics anytime soon so you can stop holding your breath. ::

::yalo! I'm back from the camping trip down in Indiana and it's quite a sad return. Kirsten is no longer here to chat, laugh, run and pig out with : ( And to make matters worse, I had to work yesterday when no one else in the whole country was working. BAH. I'm going to try running today by myself and it is probably going to rain on me because Murphy will have it that way.

The SARS concert ended up being a great time. We lost Tara and Erica to the beer tent and Brandie and I left the concert early so the group got split at the end. Still, it was nice to be a part of the concert event of the year. Poor JT got lots of jeering from the crowd. All I have to say is thank goodness Bono didn't show or I wouldn't have been able to forgive myself.

I had a great time down in yankee country this weekend too. Nothing beats cooking over the campfire and I learned how to waterski!! There was a bit of rain but we overcame it and made sure to get in some lake action, beach vball and basketball (which i wasn't good enuf to play :). The bugs weren't the only ones that feasted (on me), we ate so much great american junk food. Mmmm, OLEAN. I didn't take many pics but I'll try to post what I got.Ciao!::

::yay. i did it! I actually achieved my goal of under the hour time:
Choo, Luen   F   24   Bib#7424 Chip time: 54.50
I placed 100th in my division and 2,592nd overall - yeeeow!::

::tip of the day: don't go to see that Mandy Moore movie. Hahaha... I know my advice is obviously meaningless since no one besides Christi, Yola and I would go to see that anyway. We ended up having a fun threesome date though: Ashtanga class followed by dinner at (where else?) Fresh and then the classic girly flick.

I picked up my race kit for the Nike
runto race on sunday. I'm a little worried about this one seeing as it's not downhill the whole way like the last race but my goal is to do it in 1 hour again! Fat chance considering I was slow as molasses when Steve and I went running yesterday but I was also kind of low on energy.  I just went today too and my knee is really bugging me. Yeah, that's it, I was slow because of my knee.

I just received a postcard from my little Tanny mofo yesterday from Dublin. I'm glad to see that she's doing well and enjoying her new job. I also got an email from Leslie. All these world travellers are making me itch! I want to go away too. Here are a few destinations of choice: Thailand, South America, Prague, Hawaii (mmm macadamias), Edmonton : )
All these destinations tie right into my dream job of being Mark Burnett. How cool would it be to produce all these stupid shows and drive around in a helicopter watching people make asses of themselves in the wilderness? All the while, Mr. Burnett is kicking back in his suave hotel room drinking daiquiris and raking in the TV ratings. My back up dream job is to be a restaurant critique. I think I would be pretty good at it seeing as I do it already but pay for it.
Christi and I have enough material to start working on our upcoming book entitled "
Guide to every grocery store in Europe". We could also write "Guide to every cookie or chocolate based sweet known to man". I better get on these projects. Layta DAWGS. ::

::I think this is the most tired I've ever felt.
I biked home from work yesterday and went straight to bed. Got up this morning and biked back to work. It's a pretty long ride, which I can usually handle if I can take a nap afterwards but sitting here at my desk is torture. And to make matters worse, rob brought in cinnabon's so now i'm flat on my ass.

The girls went for drinks last night after work. Monica, Marisa, Kirsten, Juanita and myself had a great old time at the Liberty. We had some laughs and chatted about everything. Very excited for the soon to be married :)

The weekend at Becky's stag and doe was a lot of fun too. We started off with some bbq action at Smith's place and then headed over to St Agatha's community center. Becky and Tom did such a great job of getting so many people together to dance our faces off and hold lots of fun contests. I think Ashley was the biggest hit with her jello shooters, which were tastay! Sales must have been through the roof. The camp out at Tom's farm was an experience. I think I'm getting too old for sleeping in tents anymore. And too old for heavy metal blaring all night until 7am. I felt so bad for having to leave so early and missing sunday brunch but we had to run away from bottles being thrown at our tents. I have to thank Tom for the hospitality though! His farm is the best.
We decided that since we had so much time to spare from getting up so early we would go for a little hike in Paris Ontario. Good times, but I was so exhausted that when I finally got home I crashed the whole day. Got up, went running and then hit up the driving range.

I am a pretty crappy golfer. It makes my shoulders and neck ache. I guess the main benefit for me is to enjoy the day and to take out some energy on the ball. Maybe in a few years I'll improve. ::

::uggh. I feel so sleeepy. It's all that running and eating.
I went to the Courthouse Market Grille with some fine ladies as they were having a really good Summerlicious deal. The food was good and left me feeling content but not too stuffed. I love food.
I can't wait to check out more yummy places - I think zucca is next. I wish Summerlicious was on all summer.

Last week I also checked out the Toronto Street Festival. I'm all about toronto celebrating SARS. Stones concert here I come! It was entertaining, hot, and really got me fatigued. After walking through the city, I felt as though I was 80 years old with all kinds of aches and pains. I'm also a little worried about my knee for the 10K race in a few weeks. Maybe I should start looking into my RRSP and writing my will while I'm at it.

So there has been some good news at work. My team won a trip to VEGAS! Wooo. I'm so excited to go since I have never been before. I'm still waiting for details but we won't be going for a little while anyway, which is good considering all the weddings that are filling in my weekends. I think I have 6 weddings this summer. Can you believe? The girl who had never been to a wedding just over a year ago.

Gotta run. It sucks coming back from vacation but I actually feel quite refreshed now.
ps: Happy Birthday Karen!::
july 3, 2003

::happy canada day! I need to give some hello's before I start:
karen: I hope you're feeling ok! we'll have to chat about Harry Potter since I just finished it last weekend too.
c-dot: Good to see you randomly walking down the street (with lots of booze in hand :)
etch/sparks/smith/marty: Great to see you guys at jack johnson/ben harper. Jack is one smooth groove and ben is one funk soul brutha.
PW: Can't wait to meet you for lunch. You pick I pay :)

Last few days have been very chilled out (between meeting at Fresh before Lee's Palace, the concert, the maddy, the movies and fireworks). I haven't been feeling 100% and I think that may be a combination of allergies, cold, lack of sleep, and smog. I really need to be a bit more responsible with being active in this weather and air quality. It's just so much nicer to bike to work than get into my sweltering hot car and drive.

I'm not sure if I loved Harry Potter 5 as much as 3 and 4. This one was very dark and the lack of quiddich was a bit of a bummer too. I won't give away the ending but the whole aura of the book was melancholy. Still, the magical world fascinates me.

Being on vacation is soo great. I'm sitting here drinking a smoothie and reading and every few minutes I grab a cookie from the kitchen :D Yesterday I went to Burlington to hang out with Christi. We went biking in the Bruce trails; my first time on the trails this year! We hit a really technical section of the trail and needed a few attempts before getting over all the rocks. It was an exhaustingly fun ride. When we got back we lay out by her pool and listened to Jack Johnson. After christi's hearty vegan dinner we checked out Alex and Emma. It was cute but we both agreed that the chemistry was not quite right. I've definitely seen better chick flicks. Christi - thank you for having me I had such a great time (especially pulling out the old yearbooks tee hee).

Well, I better get out and enjoy the rest of the time off before it's all over!::
