In its infinite wisdom (or
stupidity?) the Lusaka Hash House Harriers Mismanagement has decided to host an
Umbral Hash on Thursday 21 June, 2001.
A number of ideally located
run sites, offering some of the most beautiful hashing country to be found
anywhere, have been identified in the vicinity of Lusaka. All of the possible
run sites are within a few kilometres of the centre line of the eclipse, and
the duration of the total eclipse will be some 3 minutes 32 seconds. The final
choice for the site of the Umbral Hash will be dictated by the number of
participants. Following the Umbral Hash there will be a big Hash Bash in
Lusaka.
Some of you may already have
made arrangements for accommodation in or around Lusaka. If so, make sure to
indicate on the registration form where you will be staying, including contact
numbers. Otherwise, whatever hotel accommodation is available has been booked
already a long time ago. A limited number of people may be accommodated for a
few nights with fellow hashers in Lusaka, either at their homes or simply by
pitching-up a tent in the garden. You haven’t made any arrangements for
accommodation yet?
Then bring your own camping
gear!
The following day, Friday 22
June 2001, we will depart for Siavonga on the shores of Africa’s largest man
made lake, Lake Kariba, for a Post-Umbral Hash Weekend. A limited number of
self-contained chalets will be available, with an over flow of camping
facilities.
Price per person for the
Umbral Hash: US$ 35.00
This includes a T-shirt,
freebies, transfer to and from the run site, run fee, Hash Bash with braai
(barbecue), beer and soft drinks (at the run and Hash Bash), entertainment, and
whatever else we may come up with.
Prices p.p. for the
Post-Umbral Hash Weekend: US$ 135.00 chalet (sharing)
Prices for the Siavonga Hash
Weekend include all run fees, accommodation for two nights, all meals, booze
cruise, piss during the weekend, entertainment, etc. Depending on the number of
out of town guests, the Lusaka Hash will provide free transportation to and
from Siavonga. If sufficient visiting Hashers are insane enough to join us, we
will arrange bus transport to and from Siavonga at a minimal extra charge.
Piss-up on the bus, just to maintain your fluid levels, will be provided free.
The prices for the
Post-Umbral Hash Weekend as given above are valid until the 31st March 2001. After that prices will be
increased by US$ 15.00

payment should have been received not later than 31 March 2001, to allow us to
make all of the necessary arrangements. Remember, after 31 March 2001 prices
for the Post-Umbral Hash will be increased by US$ 15.00. No reimbursements will
be made in case of any cancellation.
Travel
to and from Zambia
Unfortunately it is not
possible for the LHHH Mismanagement to provide any assistance in making
arrangements for your travel to and from Zambia. Please take note that there
are only a limited number of flights into Lusaka, and that it is essential to
contact your local travel agent at the earliest opportunity if you want to be
assured of a confirmed booking. Do not forget to ask your local travel agent
also for the latest visa requirements.
