Shattered Glass--Prologue
Disclaimer: You've all heard it before, but I don't own any of these characters. I have to say it so they don't sue me. They
belong to Joss Whedon, Mutant Enemy, and the WB people. I own nothing, nada, zip, zilch, okay, you get the picture. Please don't sue me!!!!
Author's Notes: Okay, this takes place sometime after I Only Have Eyes For You. It's pretty dark and people (like major
characters) die in it. Not your average Buffy fic, which was what I was going for. If that sort of stuff upsets you, please
don't read this. I love feedback and I really wanna know what you guys think of this one, so if you read this, please send me some!!! I live for it!!!! Thanks!! :-p
Prologue
He stood in the shadows, watching her. He was drawn to her, like a moth to a flame. He wanted her, needed her. And now
he was going to have her. She would be his. Forever. They could kill and love and rule together and nothing could stop
them. Together they would be invincible. Soon, he smirked into the darkness. Soon. He stared at her, mesmerized by her
body. He took in her blood red tank top and navy blue short skirt. Looking around, he saw her getting many appreciative
looks from the little boys loitering around the club. They were just children compared to him and he knew there was no
competition. He knew she would never go for any of them, not after experiencing his love. She would be experiencing it
very shortly.
He smiled again and slipped deeper into the shadows. He felt her gaze on him and knew she knew he was there, watching her. He was finished playing, he hadn't even meant to kill the Calendar woman. She was just trying to ruin his plans. And he couldn't have that. His smirk faded as he gazed into her eyes for a long moment, then turned and exited the club, knowing she would follow him. Soon.

She sat at the table absentmindedly bobbing to the music. Her friends came and pulled her onto the dance floor,
determined to make her enjoy herself. They all knew she was feeling guilty, but they couldn't have known how horrible
she really felt. But, for their sake, she put on a smile and danced. She felt eyes on her and turned to the source. It proved
more difficult than she expected because half the guys in the club had their stares fixated on her. She blushed slightly and
continued searching until she found him. His eyes danced over her body, she could feel them as they took her in. She
gazed at him with a cool, even stare, trying not to let the hatred shine through.
God, how she wanted to rip him apart. For what he had pulled, he deserved to die. And she would make sure he did. She
was finally ready, she had let go of every hope of ever having her lover returned to her. She would avenge all the deaths
when she gave him his own.
She watched him leave and made a snap decision. Indicating to her friends where she was going, she grabbed her jacket
and slid a stake into her hand. She walked purposely out of the club and away from all the stares, turning into the alley
where she knew he was. She searched for him, having some difficulty with all the shadows there were to hide in. She
rested her eyes on one particular shadow and waited for him to appear.
