| - W H I T E M A S K Q & A - - What is White Mask and what is it about? - White Mask is a short novel about a houndoom called Seiya. Read it to know the plot. - What's the rating of White Mask? - It contains violence and profanity and a lot of angst. If you can handle that do read it. - Why do some non-Houndoom Pokemon have accents and other's do not?/What's the deal with the seperate languages i.e. Pokeyu, Equinae, Caninae? - For all my Pokemon novels the different species have had their own seperate language and then the tongue that all Pokemon hold: Pokeyu. When in company of their own and similar species (such as Arcanine and Houndoom, or Meowth and Espeon) they will speak their first language. Canine-type Pokemon such as Houndoom, Vulpix and such will speak Caninae -- the language of the canine-types. Feline type Pokemon and the Eons will speak Felidae -- feline tongue. Some species such as the Eons have adopted more than one language and are often fluent in other species' language like Akima was in Full Howl and Bloodmoon. When speaking their second language however -- Pokeyu -- they will often become accented as it is not entirely familiar to them. Usually when I think of the different languages of Pokemon I think what language it could be to humans. For example I imagine caninae to be English, thus the canines speak with English accents. Here's a basic idea of what accent they would have... Canine ... Caninae ... English Feline ... Felidae ... French Horses ... Equinae ... Welsh Birds ... Ornithae ... Spanish Rodents ... Rodinae ... Italian Reptiles ... Reperae ... German And so on. More intelligent species such as Murkrow tend to be able to speak fairly fluently so Pokeyu -- which is spoken in English in the stories as it is an English story -- sounds fairly normal on them, with only a slight accent.
