Summer of 2003 was the year of Ava's All-Star Season. She was a baby compared to her teammates. With only one year of playing under her belt, she was able to make the Gold Team her first try.
After the season was over, the team held a record of 4-2nd place, 1-3rd place and 4-they didn't place. Two games went into extra innings, one lasting an extra hour and going 10 innings. (They play until 1 1/2 hours or seven innings). They passed both and ended up losing by one run with a dribbler. They came in strong in the second half and were playing like a true team. Ava scored one solo homerun to start the season. She batted 3rd or 4th in the line up. With a powerful bat, she was a threat even with her young years.
Mom and Dad really enjoyed the season for two reasons. We got to watch her play and travel on weekends. Tom didn't make all the games, but he made most.
Coach Ray above, was her first coach and seems to have done very well with her. She's been taking lessons to improve her swing and looks forward to the new season.
