| The Wire Wager Act, it states that with the use of any wire connection, gambling, whether it is bets, wages, or anything of that nature will be considered illegal and is therefore prohibited through interstate and foreign commerce. It was issued back in 1961 because of the concern over organized gambling. The government attempts to use this first primarily because going online, to them, is arguably a wire connection, hence, the use of the internet to make bets and wagers is within the guidelines of this act.
