Brimstone

Part 1: The Chase

The girl ran. It was dark. And cold. The rain pounded hard against her fur. There was no shelter from the storm that both created and freed her. The horrifying images still burned deeply into her mind. Yet she was free. Unlike all her brothers and sisters she was free. The first one to flee upon creation. The guards ran after her. She was to valuable to them to escape at this critical time. Her composition was nearly perfect, yet her creator was gone. They would have to kill her and cut her apart to learn the doctor’s secrets. She cut through the hedges. The thrones sliced open her skin and tore at her wings. Blood trickled down her face where the glass had cut. Her eyes stung from the chemicals. She was going blind. The guards started firing their newly developed germ weapons. She was hit twice in her right wing. The pain was massive as her wing began to deteriorate. The mix of rain and the scorching acid on her wing hit her in the eyes. She couldn’t see. She ran blindly into the forests, still being chased. The rocks tore at her feet and the branches at her arms. The thunder roared and the lightening flashed as though they were mocking here. Then the severe cold hit. The guards gave up chase. She was a small child. All alone in the dark woods. Badly injured. She collapsed on the dank ground. Blood seeped from where her wing used to be. She had just been born in a sense. this was a cruel way to welcome a child into the world. The lightening struck. A tree exploded, sending fire flying everywhere. She was trapped. She was bloody, broken, blind, poisoned, and now trapped. There was no way out. This would be her deathbed. This cold pile of stones and dirt would be the place she died. a tree fell suddenly from the strong wind which chilled her. It fell and she was trapped under it. So this is it, she thought. This is how my life shall end. Then her world went black.
