Part Nine: The True Color Of Blood Is Burgundy

The alarms sounded, yet still Burgundy did not budge. She continued staring into the deep red eyes of her creation, the one called Brimstone. The child was so much like her, it was remarkable. The eyes might not have been the same color but they had the same stubbornness. The glow. The hatred. Yes, Burgundy thought, she is as I have hoped she would be. The building shook. The lights flickered on and off, yet still Burgundy stood their staring at her experiment. Her child in a sense of speaking. Brimstone’s cold eyes glared back at her. She had spent enough time with Terizla Freeze to know that she could not give in, but she wasn’t ready for this yet. "You are free to go." Burgundy whispered, after a few moments of silence, opening the door of the cage that held Brimstone, and slowly stepping back. "All I wished to do is see if I was, at last, successful." the child muttered, turning away from the cell. Almost instantly she felt the cold dagger at her neck. "You shall die for what you did to me!" cried Brimstone. "Why did you bring me into this evil world?" Burgundy spoke only, "Kill me if you wish, it is irrelevant." With that, Brimstone started pressing the dagger deep into the prodigy’s skin. "Wait!" cried a familiar voice, grabbing the experiment’s wrist, restraining the knife from sinking any deeper into Burgundy’s flesh. Three heavily armed, felidae warriors jumped from a large air duct in Brimstone’s vision. The female among then had shiny, dark blue hair pulled into two buns and matching eyes. She wore boots, as did her companions, that reached her knee and were of black leather, a simply black tube top with a black leather jacket over it, as well as loose silver pants. Various weapons hung from her waste and shoulders, and the dark blue scars that covered various locations on her pale blue-and-white-stripped skin gave her the look of a fighter. Her two companions were tough looking and heavily muscled. They both wore long, black, leather trench coats, black muscle shirts, loose, black pants, and boots. One had dark purple fur and intense violet eyes. He also carried an assortment of weapons with him. He looked unscarred to the unobservant eyes, but it could be seen where he had been cut is examined carefully. The other carried only the sword in his hand and its sheath on his shoulder. His hair was icy white. His fur was raven black, as his eyes appeared to be, when in reality, if examined closely were grayish silver. Unlike his companions, he had the white angel wings that all of his kind were born with. Some had lost them in battle, yet others could make them appear and dissolve in need. He stared straight at Brimstone, his expression very grim, made even grimmer by the moon-shaped scar through his left eye. "What should we do with ‘em, Freeze?" he asked, making Brimstone take into consideration who she was dealing with. "Tie up the one who had the dagger. Leave the scientist to me." A female voice barked harshly as the purple-furred warrior grabbed Brimstone by the wrists and separated her from Burgundy. Brimstone now faced the one leading the mission. It was none other than Terizla Freeze herself. At this fact, Brimstone exploded. "Why the hell did you stop me from killing her?" she yelled. The winged felidae backhanded her across the face. "Silence!" he barked. "Wynd, chill. This kid’s with me, ‘member?" Terizla said. The one called Wynd growled at that, yet he stepped back, whispering something into the other guy’s ear. The other guy nodded, still holding Brimstone by the wrists and the girl standing beside him pressed a sword to Brimstone’s neck. Terizla turned to Burgundy, her tone becoming somewhat softer. "Are you hurt?" she asked, being answered with a shake of the head. Terizla looked as though she was going to ask something else but she was interrupted by a shout from Brimstone. "Why the hell are you letting her live after what she did to me?!?" the child yelled as the one called Wynd shouted, "Edaia, Dayth, silence her!" Terizla glared long and hard at Brimstone. "Why would I want you to kill my little sister, after all she shares my blood?" At that Brimstone became still and Burgundy looked up at Terizla in amazement. "The Frost." She whispered plainly. "Yes. That is I. The Frost. Number 13, creation of Atka Atalis, named Atkina Atalis. The IC’s worst nightmare. And yes, Burgundy, I am your older sister, blood and flesh alike. You shall know the truth upon the day of your death, that I promise you, but all you need to know now is that I am your only living kin."
