"Dr. Barbara Ann Hanners, 71, died Jan. 20, 2007. Dr. Hanners was born April 1, 1935, in Jefferson County, Ala., to the late Jack L. and Mildred Broadhead Hanners." She  is an alumi of  Birmingham's Woodlawn High School Class of 1953, obtained her  B A  from Birmingham Southern College, M A University of Tennessee and PhD from Vanderbilt University.
She was a clinician and principal with Birmingham Public Schools Speech and Hearing Center in Birmingham, Ala.
Senior audiologist at the Charlotte Memorial Hospital Rehabilitation Centre, Charlottte , NC  in 1966-7 [ all years approx]
Consultant in speech and hearing at North Carolina Department of Public Instruction, Raleigh, NC 1967-68
Instructor in audiology and clinical audiology at Northwestern State College.
Coordinator of resource access projects for Headstart in various states, in the Bill Wilkerson Hearing and Speech Center in Nashville, Tenn..1968-71
Director of Gateway Preschool in Baltimore, Md.1971-76
Professor  for Speech/Language Pathology and Director of the Speech and Hearing Center at MUW.  1977-1996
She was professor emeritus at MUW, an ASHA Fellow and past president of the Mississippi Speech, Language, Hearing Association with honors .
She also served as chair of the Family Council at MUW.
