February 7th 2001- (Getting Listed)
On this date I had an appointment to meet with the transplant team about their decision to list me.  January 16th 2001 they had told me that they would list me, but it wouldn't be official until Feb 7th 2001.  I was given my pager on Feb 8th through fed ex and now it would just be a waiting period.  They told me while I was listed they'd be doing odd and in tests.  This is normal and nothing to be afraid of.

March 19th 2001- Infection Disease Control
This was an appointment that I was suppose to do during my evaluation, but they had me to do it while I was waiting on the list.  Everyone that has ANY kind of transplant has to see an Infection Disease Control doctor.  The doctor just goes over all your vaccinations that you've had from when you were born to your current age.  The key to this is to have ALL your shots upated.  They also ask other "personal" questions if you get my drift.  Nothing to worry about though.  I did have to start getting Hepatitis A & B shots, and I've never been exposed to Hepatitis A or B which is good.  I also had to do a 24 hour stool sample.  Yes, this is the LEAST favorite test I had to do.  They just want to check if there's any parasites or anything "un-normal" in
your stool.  Which mine I guess came out normal.

May 4th 2001-  First Transplant checkup
My first transplant check up went well.  I was in the room for 10-15 minutes.  My FEV1 % currently is 44. (On May 4th 2001)  I was tested to see how allergic I am to Aspergillus because I do have Aspergillus which is a fungus that's in your lungs.  If it's real bad they'll put me on medication.  They did that with me because the Aspergillus comes and goes.  I don't have a high case of it.  They said they'll be watching it more closely.

August 14th 2001- Second Transplant checkup
Well, a few things have happend since my last transplant checkup in May.  I was hospitalized on July 23rd-27th 2001 for pneumonia.  What started out as a cold drained  into my lungs and it was time for me to head to the "big white house"  I was in just for a few days and came home on IV meds for 2 weeks and now I feel great!  Back to my old self again.  For my second transplant checkup I had to do a 6 month survey of how my health has been and a 6 minute walk.  Feb 2001 when I was listed I did a 6 min walk and did 17 laps in 6 min.  This time I improved to 20 laps in 6 minutes, which I'm proud of and it shows my working out has done some good.  I also had 3 large tubes of blood drawn.  My transplant doctor said things were looking good and to keep up the good work. He said my aspergillus test to see how allergic I am to it came back good.  It showed that I was not allergic to the aspergillus which is good.
