The emphasis of this course will be on the development of healthy behavior and attitudes. The aspects of individual health that will be included are as follows:
Health Issues - dealing with important issues such as wellness, stress management, time management, family issues (divorce, alcoholism), abuse (acquaintance rape/dating violence), and drug addiction.
Human Sexuality - including sexual decision-making with a focus on abstinence and risk reduction, teenage pregnancy, contraception, and sexually transmitted diseases including HIV/AIDS.

Thresholds to Adulthood                                
1 credit
Prerequisite: Health Education
Grade 12
Thresholds is a class offered to seniors and is designed to help students prepare themselves for adulthood. It will provide necessary background and information to encourage healthy and responsible decisions. Some of the areas to be included:

1. Understanding self
2. Communication skills
3. Family and relationships
4. The aging process
5. Death and dying
6. Stereotyping and discrimination
7. Sexuality, love and relationships
8. Marriage
9. Financial management
10. Parenting and child care

Decisions on other topics will be shared by the teacher and students according to individual needs and interests. Course structure will include lectures, discussions, guest speakers, group and individual projects.
