Sadness

Snowy days hold no wonder any longer.
Laughter is not shared.
No mind meets with mind.
Rainfall has lost its sheen and stars their glitter.

Pain is all and everything.
The beginning and the end of days.
Nights overflow with its image
and cloud a stricken heart.

Sleep eludes wakefulness.
Alertness eludes the day.
Gray matter has become foggy.
Life has become hazy, an entity strange, unknown.

Length of time stretches out beyond
control without an end in sight.
An enemy, it has become,
forever singing sadness.

This too, is My song.
