The movie takes place two years after the incident of the ff7 ending. The story seems darker and interesting I must say. A disease called Geostigma which has been rumored to affect children even more although adults maybe afflicted as well plays a major role. It seems that this disease was due to the effect of the Jenova's cells to Lifestream prior to the ending of the game.
