THE GARGOYLES
One thousand years ago, superstition and the sword ruled.
It was a time of darkness. It was a world of fear.
It was the age of gargoyles.
Stone by day, warriors by night,
we were betrayed by the humans we had sworn to protect,
frozen in stone by a magic spell for a thousand years.
Now, here in Manhattan, the spell is broken, and we live again!
We are defenders of the night!
We are GARGOYLES
NOTE: This Gargoyle RCC is based on the cartoon Gargoyles. I found the original RCC on the net somewhere. It basicly sucked!!! So I decided to redo the whole thing & make it much better(i.e. making it to where it reflected the gargoyle characters on the cartoon Gargoyles).
GARGOYLE RCC
ALIGNMENT: Typically selfish, but all varients apply
ATTRIBUTES: IQ: 3D6, ME: 4D6, MA: 3D6, PS: 5D6+10, PP: 3D6+6, PE: 4D6+6, PB: 3D6, SPD: 6D6+10; Gliding: 2D4x10 (PS &PE are supernatural)
SDC & HP: PE x 10 & PE x 3+ 2D6 per level of experience & every 100 years.
ARMOR RATING: 13(this only applys on SDC worlds)
MDC(on MDC worlds): 4D6x10+100, plus 2D6+6 per level of experience & every 100 years of age.
HORROR FACTOR: 14
PPE: 1D6x10 for a normal gargoyle, or it becomes a bonus if gargoyle chooses a magic
using OCC.
ISP: 1D4x10 for an average gargoyle, or it becomes a bonus if gargoyle chooses a psychic
using OCC.
NATURAL ABILITIES: Climbing 92%, Superior hawk-like nightvision(can see a rabbit sized objects upto 2 miles away; eyes tend to glow, especially when angry), supernatural physical strength & endurance, leap up to 100 feet up or across, bio-regenerates 10 MDC/SDC/HP per minute , those with wings(80% of gargoyles) can glide(not flight).
LIMITATIONS: Under the light of the sun -- i.e. from sunrise to sunset -- a Gargoyle is transformed from flesh and bone to rock and stone. They are effectively unconscious and paralyzed, unaware of their surroundings, and unable to act. They are, as such, very vulnerable at this time. It is easy enough to destroy statuary (especially by dropping it from its perch), so gargoyles go to great lengths to keep
their perches and homes a secret. Most of their enemies are not hindered by sunlight and will gladly exploit this weakness. As a side effect of this slumber, Gargoyles can choose to enter an hibernetive sleep for a period between a year and 400 years.
NOTE: Gargoyles in the Nightlands & in areas not dominated by normal sun light(like deep space, being underground doesnt count)are not affected by this limitation at all.
BONUSES: In addition to physical attributes, +2 on initiative, +1 to strike +2 to dodge(+4 when gliding only) & +2 to parry, +2 vs magic & psionics, and +8 vs.
horror factor.
COMBAT: All Gargoyles get the minimum of expert when determining how effective they are in combat situations(can learn any type of martial arts). They start with five attacks per melee. Their claws add 2D6 points of damage to punch/claw attacks, and a bite can do as much as 3D6, but typically does only 1D6 points of damage(it depends on what their jaw/face looks like).
AVERAGE LIFESPAN: 300 to 500 years, but some can live to be over a thousand years old, & dont forget their hibernation ability.
HABITAT: Cities, castles, and cathedrals primarily, usually in Europe, but can be found anywhere. Some with magical capabilities can/have tranveled to other dimensions & worlds, so it is very likely that they exist in other places other than earth.
ENEMIES: Anyone but humans are their most hated enemy.
ALLIES: Other gargoyles and anyone who has earned their trust.
SIZE: Anywhere from 5ft to 8ft tall being average, wing span is double thier height plus 2ft, & they weigh 150 to 600 lbs.
APPEARANCE: Gargoyles vary widely in appearance(they can look like humanoid dogs, cats, lizards etc with wings), but share some general traits: thick, muscular bodies(equal to any human who devoted 10+years to body building), skin colors in dark tones(mostly shades of grey or green) twisted and demonic visages, and, less commonly, wings and wild manes of hair.
OCCS: Tend toward warrior occupations, with the occasional scholar, magic-user or psychic(usually a mystic or mind melter), they even can become
partial borgs(during the day they look like typical carved gargoyles with carved in cybernetic/bionic parts). They also can become full conversion borgs but they loose their supernatural PS & PE, & most of their natural abilities, on the plus side they dont turn to
stone during the day. Gargoyles do not have much oppurtunity to learn heavily skilled classes, but anything is possible.
STANDARD EQUIPMENT: Gargoyles are not a property oriented species, but a few have been known to hoard some small items, paticular types of clothing, armor &
weapons.
MONEY: They do not normally care for money, but every now & then a gargoyle will become greedy and if given time they can gather vast fortunes.
