| This letter is in support of Justin Cruse for interships, employment, or graduate study in the area of sound design. My first encounter with Justin was two years ago when he participated in our Recording 1 class. Justin had already completed the course under a different instructor and was seeking additional opportunities to study and practice recording arts. It is important to note that he monitored the class while maintaining a full course load. It is also notable that his attendance never fell off. During this course we had an opportunity to record an exceptional vocal talent. Justin assisted Phil Hadaway of Reeltime studios on the sessions. Previously, Phil had shown no interest in using our students for internships. Justin continues to work for Phil, helping to expand Reeltime's services to include audio for video. |
| Justin's efforts have extended far beyond Reeltime Studios. Justin is the first call for all production and post production audio needs of our student filmmakers. He is one of the few students who understands both sound design and music production. His work on student films stand out for both quality sound design and purposeful scoring. Justin is very comfortable with technology yet he also has strong aesthetic sensibilities. Samples of his writing skills indicate that he can organize and effectively communicate in writing. In addition he has strong verbal skilld and has developed a professional demeanor appropriate for the studio setting. I understand that Internships are often more work for the host than they are worth. However, I strongly believe that Justin will be a low maintenance intern who will contribute much more than he will take. Justin is an independent learner with a strong work ethic and a high level of motivation. I have been teaching for nearly twenty years and have written literally hundreds of letters of recommendation. I can honestly say that Justin is one of the strongest student's I have had the pleasure of working with. Justin will be one of our first graduates with a sound design degree. I am confident that our program will be well represented by the career that Justin will no doubt develop. He has set the standard for our program. Thank you for your consideration of this exceptional candidate. Sincerely, Robin S. Beauchamp Professor of Sound Design The Savannah College of Art and Design |
| To Whom It May Concern: I am writing on behalf of Justin Cruse. Justin is one of the most enthusiastic students I have ever had in our classrooms. He is very dedicated and excited by any opportunity to record, design or mix sound. Importantly, his energy level and work ethic match this enthusiasm. From my first experiences with Justin, he stood out from the crowd. In our introductory level class, his project was by far the most ambitious one of all those students and many more after. I realized quickly that Justin was eager to master his ability to use his ears and take on any technical challenge that came his way. In his final class with me, Justin surprised me again. Wanting to build a real time graphical environment that responded to sound tracks - I told him he had his work cut out for him. "You'll have to teach yourself Open GL programming in less than a week..." I said. That's just what Justin did - having very little experience in 3D graphics or computer programming. His double major in Film and Sound make him one of the most versatile students leaving our school. |
| Justin is very eager to begin a career in sound and music. Very early in his education at our school he began working at a local studio. This position was very desirable to other students as there are very few studios in town and the studio owner- Phil Hadaway has a great reputation here. We were proud to have Justin represent our department, as his work ethic and character are impeccable. His experience at the local studio and his student work earned him an admirable reputation in our school. Justin is sought after many times a year for completing musical scores, engineering sessions and sound designs in student projects. Justin will undoubtedly have a lot to offer your business. He is eager to complete any task, complex or mundane and you can always count on him to meet his responsibilities. His work in the local recording studio has given him some professional experience but he still has much room to grow and learn. Please give him an opportunity to demonstrate the eagerness, dedication and growth that is so characteristic of Justin. Please feel free to contact me for further information regarding this recommendation. Sincerely, Matt G.
