Salad Dressing / 1 cup of cider vinegar 3/4 cup vegetable oil 3/4 cup gruaulated sugar 1 med. onion finely chopped 2 tablespoons garlic powder 2 teaspoons papirka 2 teaspoons parsley * Put all ingredients in a quart jar & mix throughly. * Serve over salad greens! "This recipe I've had since high school. The cook broke it down and gave it too me the last day of school the year I graduated. The name came from the high school I attented.... "Whitehall-Yearling". I would imagine the school makes it by the gallons!" 12 eggs 1/2 tsp. salt 1/2 tsp. pepper A couple dashes of Tabasco� 2 tsp. mustard Hellmans� mayonaise * Boil the eggs for 20 minutes. * Soak in cold water till cool * Peel * Slice the eggs,long ways, scoop out the yolks and put in med bowl. * Put sliced egg whites on plate lined with leaf lettuce * Smash egg yolks with pastry blender, potato masher or an ordinary fork! * Smash them good ! * Add the salt, pepper, Tabasco�, mustard and mayonaise. * Mix everything together until smooth, adding mayonaise as needed. "I now put the mixture in my pastry bag with a big tip, and squeeze into the egg whites." * Cover and chill until ready too serve. * You may sprinkle paprika on them if you wish for added color. Bread Butter Brown sugar * Take several slices bread. * Butter the them thoroughly. * Add 1 teaspoon brown sugar per slice of bread, sprinkling evenly over buttered bread. * Place on cookie sheet buttered side up. * Place cookie sheet in broiler of the oven. * Broil till sugar bubbles and starts too brown, being very careful not to burn them. "Burnt sugar smells awful!" * Eat while still warm. "ENJOY!" 1 good sized ham bone or 2 large ham hocks 1 medium onion chopped salt and pepper 2 quarts of water (add more as needed) * Cook these for about 1 hr. * Take out hambone, remove meat and then return to pot. * Add 1-2 lbs of dry lima beans. * Bring to a boil, reduce heat to med-low. * Cook until beans are soft. * Now add a few Tbs. of bacon fat or butter. * Let them cook till they get thick. Cream together: 2 cups of Crisco shortening 2 cups brown sugar (packed) Add: 2 cups flour 1 tsp. baking soda 1 tsp. salt 1 tsp. vanilla * Mix well * Add 2 large eggs, one at at time, beating after each addition. 2 cups quick cooking oatmeal 1 cup of raisins or dates (may add more) * Bake 350� F. for 8-10 minutes until golden and brown around the edges. "I like these to come out of the oven soft, that makes them soft and chewy. This has been a family recipe since the 70's. pass it down to your family." 6-8 qt.pot 1-large can of crushed tomatoes(28oz) 2-large cans of tomato sauce 2- cans of stewed tomatoes (crushed through fingers) with juice 2-large cans of tomato paste Canned mushrooms, to your liking with liquid 8 cloves of garlic crushed and cooked in a bit of olive oil. "Do this first, the house smells so good!" * Add the canned goods. Add: 2 packages of spagetti sauce mix. 1 tbl. sweet basil 1 tbl. Italian seasoning 1 tsp. margirum 1 tsp. thyme 1 tsp. rosemary salt and pepper * Sprinkle some grated cheese in now and stir. * Add some dried minced onions and stir. * Heat on "med-high" until it comes to a boil. * Stir often, to keep it from splattering all over. * Reduce heat to "simmer", and cover with splatter screen or lid tilted so steam doesn't get in the sauce. * Stir often and if it gets too thick, add some water, a little at a time. * Cook as long as you like. I simmer mine for about 3-5 hours. * Taste it, and if it's too acid, add 1-2 tablespoons of sugar. "Or Joey's idea add a finely shredded carrot. It's very good this way." 1 med onion finely chopped 3 lbs of semi lean hamburger 3 whole eggs 1 1/2 Tbs. Garlic powder (or as much as you like) Bread crumbs (add enough to hold hamburger together) some grated cheese salt and pepper * Mix all ingredients together. * Shape into large balls and place in 9x12 cake pan. * Bake at 350�, until slightly brown. * Add to sauce and cook until ready too serve. * Serve over hot pasta. 2 cups flour 2 eggs 3 Tbs. oil 1/4 tsp. salt * Put flour and salt on a large cutting board or table. * Form a well in the center then put the eggs, and oil in it. * Mix with hands, making a stiff dough (adding more flour as needed). * Roll the dough out with a rolling pin, to desired thickness. * Then roll up in jelly roll fashion. * Cut into narrow strips, unroll and lay them out flat to dry, before cooking. "Remember too add flour as needed." * Drop in boiling broth and cook until done. "Great over mashed potatoes." 1/2 cup butter or margarine 1 cup sugar 2 eggs 1 tsp. vanilla 1 cup mashed bananas (3-4 med.) 1/2 cup 7UP� 2 cups flour 1 tsp. baking soda 1 tsp. baking powder 1/4 teas salt 1/2 cup chopped dates 1/2 cup chopped pecans * Pre-heat oven to; 350� F. * Grease a 9x5 loaf pan. * Mix the butter/margarine and sugar together, until light and fluffy. * Add eggs and vanilla beat well. * Blend in the bananas. * Alternating dry ingredients and 7UP�, add to banana mixture. * Fold in the chopped dates and nuts. Combine, in another bowl: * Flour, baking soda, baking powder and salt. * Spoon batter into pan. * Bake for 1 hour and 15 minutes. * Cool and enjoy! "I made this one the other day. It's great! I wrap mine in foil while still warm and it stays moist a long time." 1 lg. leafy cabbage, steamed 2 lbs. lean hamburger 3-4 cups of cooked rice 1 med. onion chopped salt, pepper, to taste 2 lg. cans of tomato sauce (15 oz) 9"x13" baking pan * Mix the rice into the onions and raw hamburger meat. * Add about a 1/4 cup of the sauce. * Mix well. * Add some salt and pepper. * Remove the core from the cabbage. * Pull off the outer leaves, being careful not too rip. * Get a hand full of meat mixture and form it into an oblong shape. * Wrap cabbage leaf around the meat, folding edges in. * Place in pan. * Continue making these until the meat mixture is gone. "If theres any left over cabbage, I always chopped it and put it on top of the stuffed ones." * Add remaining sauce. * Dot with margarine. * Cover and bake for about 1 1/2 hrs. at 350� F. * Uncover and bake 20 minutes longer. "This one is great as a left over, with undiluted tomato soup and then warmed up in the oven." 1 loaf Italian bread, cut in half, length-wise 1 can Cream of Mushroom soup 1/4 tsp. garlic powder 1/4 tsp. Italian seasoning 1 cup mozzarella cheese, shredded 1 Tbs. grated Parmesan cheese 1 small red bell pepper, chopped 2 green onions, chopped Preheat oven to 400� F. * Heat bread until lightly toasted. * Mix together the soup, garlic powder, Italian seasoning. * Stir in the mozzarella, parmesan cheese, red pepper and green onions. * Spread mixture over the bread. * Return to oven and bake until hot and bubbly. * Clean the turkey inside. * Salt the bird inside. * Tie his legs together. * Place on meat rack in big roasting pan. Now here's the trick: * Take a large paper bag and cut it up one side. * Cut the bottom off. * Butter the bag. * Place it around the turkey, tucking it in under the edges. * Place it on the rack. * Bake in 350� F. oven until done. "NO BASTING REQUIRED." "I have done my turkey's this way since 1970 and have never had a fire. Trust me it won't catch on fire unless your oven is too hot. A 350� F. oven will not cause a fire! This way makes the best turkey gravy I have ever eaten!" 2 Tbs. vegetable oil 1 cup beef, cubed 1 cup pork, cubed 3 cloves garlic, chopped 1 onion, chopped 1 sm. head of cabbage, chopped 1 green or red pepper, chopped 1 - 2 carrots, chopped 1/2 lb. snow peas, cut in half 1-2 cans of chicken or vegetable broth 2 pkgs. Pancit noodles, cooked "I use cooked vermicelli" fresh lemon wedges * Cook beef, pork and garlic in oil, until throughly cooked. * Add onions, cabbage, peppers and carrots. * Cook until done. * Add snow peas and cook just a bit longer. * Cook vermicelli or pancit noodles as suggested on pkg. * Drain. * Add noodles to meat mixture. * Mix well. * Add broth. * Cook until heated through. * Serve with lemon wedges. "This one is real good, and quite easy." 1 lb. powdered sugar 1 stick of butter 1 18 oz jar of peanut butter, chunky style 1 pkg. chocolate chips one sm. piece of parafin * Cream butter and peanut butter together. * Add powdered sugar. "If too soft add a little more powdered sugar." * Shape into small balls. * Set in refrigator. * Melt wax and chocolate chips together in pan on very low heat. "Be careful not too burn it." * Using a toothpick dip one candy ball, at a time, in chocolate. "Don't dip it all the way under." * Leave a small area on top that's not covered with the chocolate mixture. "You want them look like buckeyes, if you all know what buckeyes look like." * Do this to each candy. * Place them on wax paper until completely cooled. * May be refrigerated or frozen until ready to enjoy! Editor's Note: "Mary & friends recently caught 23 perch at their city part. The pond is an old city pool / turned fish and turtle urban pond. And if that isn't strange enough, she used hook and line tied around a Pepsi� can bobber, to catch her fish. I couldn't stop laughing. Mary, you always amaze me!" 1 cup flour 1 tsp. sat 1 tsp. baking powder 1/2 tsp. dill weed 3/4 cup beer 1/2 cup milk 2 eggs beaten 2 lbs. of fish, any fresh water variety * Mix all ingredients well. * Add fish, and let it sit for 15 minutes * Put fish pieces in hot oil. * Cook till browned on both sides, or until done. "Fish is done, when it turns white and flaky." "We had to be real careful of all the little fish bones. But the were very tasty fish. This recipe would be great on any frozen fish also." 1 lb. ground pork 2 tsp. 5-Spice Oriental Seasoning�, more or less depending on taste 1 tsp. garlic powder 2 cups cabbage, shredded 1 carrot, shredded 8 oz. fresh bean sprouts egg roll wrappers Paste for sealing wrappers: 2 Tab. flour 2 Tab. water * Brown pork, add 5-Spice�, garlic powder. * Cook until pork is no longer pink. * Add cabbage, carrots, bean sprouts. * Stir often. * Remove from heat before cabbage is completely done. * Let mixture cool. * Mix flour and water together in a small bowl. * Read instructions on wrapper package, to learn how to wrap the egg rolls. * Place 1/4 cup of mixture on a egg roll wrapper. * Wrap and paste to close. * Cook in hot peanut oil until brown on both sides. * Serve with sweet & sour sauce.
