Calling all SCUBA and Wanna-be divers!!!!
Houston, March 2007 Lunarfins, a non-profit club that promotes the sport
of scuba diving, is hosting an Open House / membership drive on April 11, 2007
at 5:00 p.m. at the Gilruth Pavilion at the NASA Johnson
Space Center. Association with NASA is not a requirement
for membership.
The Gilruth Center
entrance is off of Space Center
Blvd, appx 1 mile North of NASA Rd 1 and is open
to the public. The Pavilion will be the
large, covered area far off to the left…full of people! Guests are encouraged to drop by to hear the
latest on SCUBA and to network with fellow divers. Food,
snacks, soda and beer will be provided. Non-diving
spouses and children are always welcomed at all meetings and social events.
Lunarfins first started in 1963
by a small group of divers who worked at the Johnson Space Center (JSC) in Houston (or the Manned
Spacecraft Center,
as JSC was then known.) Since that time, membership has broadened to include
anyone interested in diving. The diverse membership reflects the wide
popularity the sport of scuba diving has gained during the last few years.
The club membership, $15 per
year for single membership, $20 for family, provides these benefits:
- Affiliation with Texas
Gulf Coast
Council of Diving Clubs
- Opportunity for group discounts on dive trips
- Opportunity for specialized training from our PADI Master
Instructor
- Opportunity to network with fellow divers
- Currently the shop is being upgraded, but in Fall of ’07, members
will once again have access to free air refills and low cost tank rentals.
